    Daily Holidays – March 18

National Quilting Day In 1991, the National Quilting Association decided to create a special day to celebrate and inspire lovers of quilting and to encourage others to take up this charming and addictive craft. Quilting Day was born, and has been celebrated ever since by quilt and patchwork lovers every spring. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/quilting-day/

Companies That Care Day Have you ever really loved the company that you worked for? Did they give you the feeling that what you did was important and your contribution mattered? It is possible that the company was following the principles of a socially responsible employer that Companies the Care Day brings awareness to. The Center for Companies that Care works to enhance the well-being of employees and communities by inspiring companies to use the principles in their daily business practices. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/companies-that-care-day/

Awkward Moments Day Awkward moments happen all the time, and to some folks more than others! For anyone who’s ever wished the ground would open up and swallow them, Awkward Moments Day is a celebration of all awkward moments. From walking out of a public toilet with loo roll on a shoe, to realising you’ve been speaking to someone everyday for a year, and don’t know their name, life is full of these moments. Although there isn’t much information regarding the origins of Awkward Moments Day, many people have commented on how interesting it is that Awkward Moments Day is the day after St Patrick’s day! Awkward Moments Day can boast a mascot though, the awkward turtle. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/awkward-moments-day/

Corn Dog Day Corn Dogs ultimately find their heritage in the sausage makers of Germany, and by extension those who immigrated to Texas. While we can’t for a minute understand why anyone would want to move to a state so well-known for being unbearably hot, we have to be glad they did! The German Texans apparently weren’t finding their sausages well received, and it’s said that they innovated and dipped it in a delicious breading and fried it. The first record of the corn dog we have is in 1927, when a patent was submitted to the US Patent Office describing the process thusly: https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/corn-dog-day/

    3. Company That Cares Day!

    :roflmao: too funny!

Only one I can think of is that one where the owner pays  EVERYONE at least $70k a year.

      4. You are right!

There certainly are companies who do care, but I never really came across them in my time in the workforce. I did come across co-workers and some management that cared and would do whatever they could to help out when the situation warranted, but the company….. not so much. We would have the periodic warm fuzzy, feel good programs and seminars but they rarely lasted more than few weeks before things returned to their regular programing.

        6. We should be grateful they allow us to work for them

Pretty soon, it’ll be compounds where we go to their stores and won’t be allowed to leave without a pass.

        Think Joad.

          8. That was the attitude

I noticed through the years. The “Gee, be happy you get to work here”.

              13. Precisely

I worked in the land of overly inflated egos in a family full of inflated egos that owned the company.

    12. Go awkward moments!!!!

Nothing like watching someone have a really bad awkward moment. They get to see me all the time, so it’s nice to be able to see them, too.
