      1. Fargo.

I don’t care what the question is, the answer is Fargo.

Since the time was changed, does anybody know @ what time trivia is going to be? EST?

On edit never mind I see it’s around 6est

              34. What at sweetheart you are Mr. Pool.

Don’t listen to @sofarfromheaven.  He’s rigid and inflexible about timeframes.

I don’t even think about daylight savings time anymore.  I realized yesterday that’s why I kept showing up late to Trivia.

I now know that it’s posted around 11am MY TIME so I will adjust my schedule so that SFFH doesn’t have a spaz and the rest of the gang doesnt’ have to wait.

          11. Bullshit.

I saw the movie. It’s actually a pretty good rendition of the play. It was Richard Burton. Period.

          13. Wow! The first thing I did one year was to read all of Shakespeare.

My two favorites are Winters Tale & The Tempest but The Taming of the Shrew is very good too.

Forsooth, my bodkin swelleth with an unseemly pride.

            19. If you like The Tempest…

Be sure and check out Julie Taynor’s version. Helen Mirren plays Prospero. Great stuff. Shot on a Hawaiian Island forget which one, but the scenery is perfect.

              30. You know some of my history. I am a high school grad who put 2500 miles

between me & where I grew up at 18 and found a job I liked. I also liked to read and I did.

Sorry we never ran into each other in Farmington or Chamas or Chinle or Many Farms or Cortez – it would have been nice. I liked SW Colorado more than I liked SW Utah.

                32. Oh yes, what I know of your history is amazing. Funny how our paths crossed

but at different times. It would have been fun to hang out in any of those great places. I worked for the Forest Service as a temp for a few years (early 20’s) and it was glorious to be outdoors seeing new places all the time. The Santa Fe Hot Shots were located in the same warehouse we worked from and they were exceptional people. You have lived the life!

                  37. The unfair, to me anyway, thing is that most smokejumpers were "seasonal"

and did not get health insurance or retirement benefits. People who sat behind desks and never raised an axe in anger against a forest fire got the pay and benefits but not those doing the often dangerous work. Civil Service law allows an agency, like the USFS, to hire temporary workers w/o benefits for a one time emergency but when that agency needs workers every year for less than a year, the workers should be Subject-To-Furlough and receive health & retirement benefits during the time they are employed. Several agencies abused the system and it made organizing a professional organization & then a union easy because there was an issue of over riding importance to those so engaged. I was honored to be elected president.

Of all the places I lived, I think I liked the 4-corners area the best. There was always plenty to do on time off and there were reliable services like medical & supermarkets which were not so available in far SW Utah and northern AZ near the Utah border(although these areas were probably more scenic).

I was lucky in that I recognized I didn’t want to be a longshoreman, like the males on my mother’s side, or go through the 10,000 hour apprenticeship of the IBEW or go to sea with the National Maritime Union like on my father’s side, so I used the money I had saved, and my score on the Civil Service exam, caught a Greyhound and went west. I did OK on the job but I was unprepared for the culture shock from living among the local ranchers – I thought then, and think now, that they were nutso – they were Bundy-types before Bundy. Luckily, there were people my age – late teens – from the Intermountain School who looked as lost as me on time off and they let me in their circle.

It would have been very nice to have met you but we were separated by time and place. How was the job you had with the USFS? Were you treated OK. A lot of discontent among Forest Service employees comes from the Forest Supervisor – many Forests are great to work in; others are not because of the management style (or lack of it). Same goes for all the land management agencies – Bureau of Land Management; National Park Service; US Fish & Wildlife Service. Whenever you get a group of people in an isolated situation, it can be tough if the person in charge is a martinet.
