Great grey owl visits Newport, NH

I don’t have a Facebook acct, but for those who do, check this out! A Great Grey owl in NH is REALLY rare! And this one has been hanging around for almost 10 days!

In this (slow-loading page?) is a picture of the owl landing on a woman’s head!  Incredible!

I’m going tomorrow (half-hour-drive) to try to catch a glimpse and maybe a picture!!

    An awesome bird!

    2. What an amazing experience that must have been.

It's not my fault, Russia did it!

    3. Wow.

What motivates an owl to interact with humans?  Is this owl not wild?  The photos are beautiful.

I’m grateful that my resident Great Horned Owl doesn’t try to land on my head, though,.

      4. A naturalist with experience with raptors wrote

that the owl was basically saying “You guys don’t worry me” when he landed on her head. He IS a ‘wild’ owl. He’s never been seen before and disappears from time to time to hunt and eat, I assume.

It reminds me of Bernie’s bird during the primaries.
