** POST BUGS IN THIS THREAD **

Please use this thread to report any bugs you encounter on the site. Kindly limit this thread to bug reports – it’s difficult to read through unrelated stuff and keep track of issues. Apologies in advance – not every post may get a response, but know that these posts are being read.

    When reporting an issue, please:

    1. Clearly explain the issue, including the steps taken before that produced the issue.
    2. Can you reproduce the issue or is it sporatic or a one time thing?
    3. Note what Browser (& version number if available) and Operating system you are on (even if you mentioned it before)

Thank you very much for helping bug bash.

      1. While I love the notification alerts…

I hate having to delete the identical ones.. Can you make it so that if the author returns the thread, then the notification can be switched off?

I have returned to my OP many times, and still have these old notifications.

          4. Can't help it when I make good threads.

BTW, thanks for fixing the tabbing issue, that drove me nuts, and now it’s behaving the way it should.

      5. Message icon doesn't work for users with a space in their "display name"

For example, if I click the envelope next to Manny’s name in a post, it takes me to a send message page with nobody filled in for the recipient.  Clicking the envelope on someone without a space works.  To actually send the message I need to type his tag/login name without the space… if I type it in manually without the space it says something like no such user.

I think it would be ideal if it worked with the space, but if that’s difficult the envelope link should take out the space so it goes to a valid message form for the user.

      6. Thread not going to top of list

I replied twice to a thread I started in Latest News, and it didn’t go back to the top, it’s still at the bottom.  Is this how Latest News works?

            9. What do you mean by "thread list"?

Do you mean the Latest page? That is listed by the time the OP is posted.

        18. I had just assumed that anything I posted in my group recieved

only fractions of a read not worth listing as read. (just kidding it appears to be a bug, in time I am sure it will be worked out).

      13. Is this a bug or a feature:

First I noticed there was no “reply index” or even a choice to hide it on a thread with three replies. Yet it is there on threads with six or more replies. I thought for sure the “reply index” was there for all threads, no matter the number of replies. Has this been changed recently, or is it a personal settings function? I haven’t seen anything in my settings, so I’m guessing it’s either a bug or a new feature ;-)

      14. Image Caption bug

When trying to use an image caption, the text is not alone. It’s accompanied with code and the image’s size info. Also, the text doesn’t appear below the image, but rather to the side. It looks fine in the editor, but changes once the post button is clicked. Screenshots below:

      19. Why did so many Groups disappear from the listing?

Not one of the Groups starting with Jackpine Radicals is showing,

and almost all of the Groups I subscribed to are not showing in the main listing, as they did before.

      Here are my subscribed Groups:

      SUBSCRIBED GROUPS
      A Humor Group
CC’s Wildlife and Scenery Photography Group
      Cycling
      DIY & Home Improvement
      JPR Photography
      Wheels, wheels and more wheels!

The only one that is still in the main listing is A Humor Group

Pretty sure there are others that I forget from the main listing that are missing . .

I see the new banner at the top of the page, so as asked, I’m reporting that the site’s still loading very slowly.

I’m on an old computer running XP.  Browser is Firefox 47.0.

Just went to my ISP’s speedtest page so I can also give you that connection speed info, too (if that helps)

      26. Hi Matariki, I found an issue.

When I go to a video in any music group that I’m not a member of and play the video BEFORE I Join the group, the video will continue to play in the background AFTER the page refreshes. Even if you go to a different page(like Latest) the video will continue to play. (not sure how long because I closed the page).

Yes it can be reproduced because I first noticed it in Classical Music and the tried it with Country Music and the same thing occurred again.

Latest version of IE(I think lol)

      27. Why is it that sometimes when

I get a notification, say the JPR system notifies me that Manny replied to one of my posts, and then I click that notification, and end up reading Manny’s words of wisdom, and the notification will stay in my notifications.

Other times, the notification seems to disappear once I go off and read the relevant post.

Why is that? I am aware that I can delete notifications, but these are notif’s that I have not yet deleted… Why the discrepancy?

I am having to log in to every single thread that I have selected to view. This is new for me. I usually click on latest and select the posts I want to read. When I did this after the last upgrade, I have had to repeatedly log into the site to post a reply.

I think I can fix my individual situation by logging in again and then logging on again and then picking posts to read.

      51. So, I think I've found another bug

When I posted the last bug, I clicked “Notify me of follow-up replies via email” – assuming I’d only get emails when there were follow-up replies to my individual reply, not to the entire thread.

I’m now getting an email anytime anyone replies to this thread anywhere within it.

      In the email, it says:

“You are receiving this email because you subscribed to a forum topic. Login and visit the topic to unsubscribe from these emails.”

But I see no option to unsubscribe from the emails.

Unless… maybe if I unclick that box before posting THIS reply, that will stop the emails.  Not a very intuitive way to unsubscribe from a topic… I’ll let you know if it works.

Edit: If there were no time limits on editing posts, I would have tried to edit my previous posts and unclick the box. But of course that’s not possible now.

      77. In Latest News, newest replies are not moving subjects to the top

Is this due to operator error and/or have I somehow altered some kind of forum settings adjustment, or does Latest News have a cootie?

      Hi Matariki —

I do notice that if I hit the backspace of enter key just a bit too hard, I lose a post.

Also, tonight I lost one which had been posted and which I was editing.

Don’t know how to explain this but things feel a bit bouncey.

Of course — could always be me!

Would be an odd one for you to have a solution to, but thought I’d ask.

      87. Expanding the text field

That is, the little triangle of dots in the lower right corner of the text field. On other boards, it’s a means of expanding the text-field (or even shrinking it) when you grab with your cursor.

This function hasn’t worked for me from the beginning. The cursor changes to the double-arrow, yet does nothing. Is it supposed to work? And if not, can you edit it out of the software, so I’m not tempted to try it from time to time to see if it’s been enabled?

we use a Content Delivery Network and it seems that some locations get the cache updated at a different pace. I don’t see any reason why it shouldn’t work on win7 / IE 11. Maybe later(?)

Now, it’s near impossible to find my other posts any more.

      112. Same to you

Your access to this site has been limited
Your access to this service has been temporarily limited. Please try again in a few minutes. (HTTP response code 503)

Reason: Exceeded the maximum global requests per minute for crawlers or humans.

Important note for site admins: If you are the administrator of this website note that your access has been limited because you broke one of the Wordfence blocking rules. The reason your access was limited is: “Exceeded the maximum global requests per minute for crawlers or humans.”.

If this is a false positive, meaning that your access to your own site has been limited incorrectly, then you will need to regain access to your site, go to the Wordfence “options” page, go to the section for Rate Limiting Rules and disable the rule that caused you to be blocked. For example, if you were blocked because it was detected that you are a fake Google crawler, then disable the rule that blocks fake google crawlers. Or if you were blocked because you were accessing your site too quickly, then increase the number of accesses allowed per minute.

If you’re still having trouble, then simply disable the Wordfence advanced blocking and you will still benefit from the other security features that Wordfence provides.

If you are a site administrator and have been accidentally locked out, please enter your email in the box below and click “Send”. If the email address you enter belongs to a known site administrator or someone set to receive Wordfence alerts, we will send you an email to help you regain access. Please read this FAQ entry if this does not work.

on edit:  I was trying to logout so I could login again and maybe have the snails go away and the hamsters come back.  I was not making a brazilion global requests, just attempting to fix MY slowness problem.  Do not understand what is happening.

        115. What browser are you using?

One possibility is that cookies are being cleared or expired out at certain intervals by an add-on or by external software.

          116. FireFox 50.1.0 on WIN8.1 no add-ons

I do not have my browser clear cookies.  I use CrapCleaner and protect jackpine and other cookies that way.  I am on a Lenovo notebook so I would have to try really hard to accidently log myself out.  If jackpine is not logging me out because I click too many times, no worries.  If I am exceeding  my allowance of clicks, I just want to know that so I can be more selective about what I read.

          Thank you.

      117. Having problems with email and password changes.

Not sure I remember the complete sequence, but I found out yesterday that my hosting service (do NOT get an EIG owned hosting service for your ISP.  They are a growing monopoly SCREWING their customers!) is killing off my old domain for one of my domains.  I don’t own this one so it will go away in two weeks.  I tried to change it to the other domain that I own now, but it was giving me problems doing that through Chrome.  Tried to log in through Safari, but forgot my password so I reset it there.  I am currently logged in to Safari typing this message, though usually I’m on here in Chrome.  Now I CANNOT log in to my account through Chrome with my new password.  It seems like it is persisting my older one that it doesn’t authenticate, and doesn’t take in the newer password I’m typing in there.  I try to reset it again using my newer email address, but no reset email is sent to my newer email address that I changed it to now.  So now I just have this session on Safari, that perhaps when it goes away I will no longer be able to log in to or access JPR…  It’s been frustrating enough with the problems I’m having with my ISP and I’m thinking of switching to a newer hosting service not owned by the monopoly hungry EIG company that is more interested in making money and controlling the marketplace than providing good customer service.

Vote AGAINST the race to the bottom by both corporate parties who seek to screw workers over globally!

      118. ANOTHER response timed out after I clicked POST.

I don’t know if the hamsters are on strike or just hungry, but today I’m getting frequent time-outs (SITE NOT FOUND) when I attempt to get here and thread-to-thread times are slow, all of which I am accepting as a lesson in patience, but losing my posts to time-outs is a bummer.

        119. 10+ seconds or timeout to reach JPR when logged in; one second if not.

6+ seconds for any screen change.  I love this place but…

          121. Same here — that's been going on for very long time for me —

I just accepted it as “normal” for this site — it’s been happening since I first joined.

          Odd???  Or Normal?

      120. Last three times and today, I visited … everything moving very s l o w —

Finally, now, after being here like 15-20 minutes, things have speeded up.

Are you occasionally down for updating, or something — and I’m coincidentally just hitting into those times?

      Thanks —

      122. Circumstances that log me out or eat my post… plus a question.

I click to listen to a tune or a cast and then open a new tab with JPR (looks like I am logged in on both tabs). If I try to post from that second tab, if I’m lucky, when I click reply I get the please log in message. If I’m not lucky, after I click post, I’m back on the thread but my post is gone (different than timeouts).

No big deal now I know not to post from a second tab but it brought up my actual question:
Does it take a lot of JPR resources if I listen to an album or cast in a thread?
Would it be better if I open the link in a new tab?

      Thank you.

      123. can we get layered depth controls for our posts?

You know the old html way of utilizing tileable images or stand-alone wallpaper to lay out our wonderful notation upon :D

something like the below for ex. but w/out all the paragraph formatting it has to wiggle around here

More like the old simple html background

      <body alink=”#ff0000″ background=”http://i.imgur.com/VmJLnt5. gif”
      bgcolor=”#ffffff” link=”#3333ff” text=”#000000″ vlink=”#339999″>
      <br>
      </body>

4 x 4 w/ an unfortunate return space in between – desperately wants to be a body wallpaper ;p

Even w/in a simple e-mail composer like the old seamonkey
