Tell Your Sen: POSTPONE Supreme Court Hearings Until AFTER Russian Investigation

Confirmation hearings for Neil Gorsuch began today, March 20. But just moments earlier, FBI Director James Comey revealed that there is an ongoing investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and whether there was “any coordination between the campaign and Russia’s efforts.”

With the possibility of collusion with a foreign government hanging over the Trump regime, the last thing the Senate should be doing is considering a lifetime nomination to the Supreme Court. The legitimacy of this presidential regime is now in serious question, and this nomination should be, too.

      1. Won't hurt to delay the confirmation of the Supreme Court justice in any event,

especially since the Republicans were in no hurry to confirm Obama’s relatively uncontroversial nominee.

        7. I can't name a single Senate Dem who shouldn't be primaried

They all need to go down for crimes against the 99%

          11. Exactly. Neither can I.

We need a clean house and start from scratch. And add term limits TOO!!!

      3. What is that got to do with it?

The hearings are about whether Gorsuch is qualified or not. Which has nothing to do with Trump and the Russian meme.

        4. I agree. How is it going to be easier to get votes against his confirmation….

…. after the “Russian” crap comes up with nothing and is discredited?

        5. Was Garland qualified?

        Where were his hearings?

          9. Set aside by the Senate.

Because Obama was a lame duck…and they have the right to do that.

But Trump is not and has 4 years ahead…unless there is a coup that is.

            14. I think we could do a lot worse than Gorsuch.

After Alito most candidates look okay. Garland was no Ginsberg. Justice Stevens wasn’t a bad pick by Ford as it turned out.

              15. Stevens was the last Republican pick who wasn't ideologically driven

That was back in 1975. Every Republican nominee since then has had to pass the wacko Republican litmus test.

                16. Souder was a bush Sr appointee who was not an idealogue.

He was actually disappointing to the conservatives. He and Breyer were very close in manners and votes. Kennedy became a rabid voter and O’Conner blew it in the 2000 bush v gore decision. After the 94 takeover they have been pretty radical and all have come from the federalist Society.

                  17. OK, I had to refresh my memory about Souter

I remembered that he was portrayed as a big-time conservative when he was nominated, and various liberal groups and Senators came out against him. And in his first few years, he was conservative, voting with Scalia 85% of the time, but apparently had an epiphany or something after Clarence Thomas was appointed to the Court.

          19. Most liberals were not happy with Garland anyway

I remember when he was announced, many on the left were pissed at Obama. In fact I remember a number of liberal pundits and Democrats were happy the GOP was holding off his hearings. Because they thought that Hillary was a shoo-in and would nominate someone much more liberal and younger. They were willing to throw the dice just as much as the Republicans were.

        6. Is the potential Russian agent Trump (under investigation)

        qualified to nominate anyone?

          8. The only qualification is that you be POTUS

And it does not depend on whether you like the POTUS or whether there are charges against him unproven…(you know like being born in Kenya).

The Senate must consent and confirm so it is up to them not Trump. They can say no if they want to. But to hold it up out of hope of a coup to take out not only Trump but Pense and Ryan so you can install someone who you trust to appoint a SCJ to your liking sounds a lot like a banana republic.

The way things are going I would not be surprised to see the left pull for a military coup. Who would have thought it would come to this?…but here we are, just as nutty as the Tea Party Patriots.

          25. I don't pretend to know

I don’t know anything about the man, just as I don’t know anything about any of them and I don’t pretend that I do just because some leader on of this phoney party tells us what to think.

Just look at Keith Ellison…no one knew him before a few people on the internet declared he was an upstanding progressive and like sheep we all said Baaaaaaa. And when we find out he is a war monger like Hillary we just pretend we did not hear it because hanging on to the heard mentality is important to us.

I am,for one so over that.

      10. What bullshit today is seeing.

This is yet another nothing issue conjured by the DNC and delaying may bring you a Pence pick for Supreme Court a Christian zealot worse than the current choice.

Oh what you think they will put Clinton in office IF they find something on Trump???

No we will get Pence who is eve a bigger asshat.

        12. Sorry that argument doesn't wash with me. Trump gives both Bannon and

Pence anything they want. When you get Trump you get Bannon. When you get Trump you get Pence. Pence and worse yet Bannon are pretty much running the show anyway.

Pence is a hardcore social conservative. That dude puts the Bible above the Constitution.

      21. Right move for the wrong reason

It was the failure to appoint Obama’s nominee that is the travesty.
