Mid and upper level flow was westerly off the Pacific, but low level flow was southerly, and the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) did indicate a marginal chance of severe storms from the Oregon border north today. Usually we get weak EF-0 funnels or tornados, more likely on the other side of the Sound, but wherever they occur, it seems like they are getting stronger the last 10 years. I could go into more technical detail as to how these events occur but perhaps another time.
