      1. Reviewing the existing candidates, weird thing in Colorado 3rd district…

Root Routledge, who sounded like a great Berniecrat trying to get in to the Colorado race appears to not have gotten enough “delegate support” to get on the ballot apparently.  It sounds like, though I don’t know the rules here, that one either needs to get petition signatures, or enough votes in a “district assembly” that apparently Routledge didn’t get much support at.  Arn Merconi is mentioned here as qualifying to be on the ballot (I presume for the Democratic Primary too since he’s listed as D, even though he ran as a Green in 2016) through petition signature methods instead.  Read more here.  Lesson to be learned here, is DO NOT try to get in to a primary by just going through a local “assembly” to become a candidate.  You’re better off doing the hard work of getting voter signatures to get on the ballot!

I guess I’ll have to remove Root shortly from our list… :(

      2. Remove Bryan Anderson of Connecticut who withdrew…

… leaving NO state of Connecticut candidates for us in the House!  Hmm… Neolibs must be working extra hard in that larger state to keep us progressives out there!

      Here’s his campaign suspension announcement.

        3. Well, just added another Connecticut candidate…

Who is a newer one that just got added after Elizabeth Etsy announced her retirement a month ago or so.  I recall at the time hoping that Craig D’Angelo as a Republican candidate who was known for his stances against H-1B visas would put a lot of pressure on newer Dem candidates to also take good stances on this issue, but alas, it appears Craig is out of the race now too.  Anyway, interesting quote here from him about last year’s election.  Not sure if he liked Bernie mostly for his Jewish heritage or for his political stances, but he certainly didn’t appear to be in the Hillary camp at all.  This quote from him in this web posting here…

        http://www.politicalforum.com/index.php?threads/is-the-rabbi-correct-that-one-third-of-bernie-supporters-will-not-vote-for-hillary.456761/

“Thanks to Senator Sanders who is rapidly removing the invisibility cloak of the oligarchy, many American people are seeing the horrendously grotesque truth for the first time. Others knew this already and they are the ones creating the circumstances wherein the oligarchie’s invisibility cloak is being removed layer by layer.

Friends, it is better to suffer the pain now and write yourself into the correct side of ledgers of history. Once the people’s eyes have been opened to such a fundamental state of affairs, they cannot be closed again. The little man behind the curtain has been spotted.

Because this is about democracy itself and not any particular candidate, already one third of Senator Sanders supporters will not under any circumstance cast their vote for the secretary. Moreover, I am quite sure given recent events that this number will increase to at least half of the senator’s supporters by the time of the convention in Philadelphia this summer. The truth is not going away, the revolution is not going away, it is just more and more revealed and more and more revved up respectively.

As noted here on his Facebook page stating that he’s suspending his campaign.  Removing him from list.

      5. Adding Randall Auxier running as a Green in Illinois' 12th district…

Lost too many good candidates in the Dem primaries a few weeks ago, but this guy looks like a good one to vote for.  I like his answer to this question from his Ballotpedia page here:

      https://ballotpedia.org/Randy_Auxier

      8. Looks like Wikipedia is playing the same games with Michigan that they did in IA

… and only listing Republicans and Democrats and removing independent candidates that aren’t in the primary election candidate list.  Looks like this has affected Douglas Smith who’s running as an independent in the 3rd district, and Dion Adams in the 4th district who was listed in Ballotpedia as a Democrat that didn’t make the list, but if you go to his campaign web site he calls himself a “Democratic Socialist”, which perhaps tells me he’s actually running as an independent too and therefore not listed in the primary list.

Cooper Nye as an independent candidate for district 11 there looks interesting since he notes that voters are frustrated with the two parties as evidenced by Donald Trump’s and Bernie Sanders’ success, but doesn’t say much more than that about Bernie.  Hard to tell where his real allegiances are that keep me from adding him here.

Going to look more at green candidate Steve Young for MI-12 too.

        21. Re-added Marcia Squier who was also censored as a senate candidate here too…

She’s now in Wikipedia in the same fashion that Iowa congressional candidates are there with an additional reference to an explanation of the partisan primaries to explain why independents shouldn’t be excluded because they aren’t a member of one of them.

      9. DCCC is also F*CKING some of our Minnesota democrats as noted here!

Noticed that Jeff Erdmann wasn’t in Wikipedia now too…  And then noticed this page, which smells like so many other stories recently with Levi Tilleman and Laura Moser.  Read more here on how the DCCC are trying to push out non-corporacrats out of the races there too such as Erdmann.  I guess I’ll have to “star” his entry here too now!

Some DFLers say Washington Democrats are ‘bigfooting’ Minn. congressional races
      Mark Zdechlik · Mar 26, 2018

Rosemount High School football coach and ninth-grade American government teacher Jeff Erdmann, here at his home in Eagan earlier this month, wants to serve in Congress. Mark Zdechlik | MPR News

Jeff Erdmann of Eagan is a football coach at Rosemount High School who wants to add a term in Congress to his resume.

He hopes to run against first term Republican U.S. Rep. Jason Lewis in Minnesota’s 2nd District.

But Erdmann said he faces an obstacle in gaining the DFL Party endorsement in the form of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

The Washington group, known as the DCCC, is the official campaign arm of House Democrats. Last fall it threw its support to businesswoman Angie Craig, who narrowly lost to Lewis in the District in 2016.

        10. Leah Phifer also sounds like she didn't like the DFL's neoliberal DCCC games too

… when Minnesota DCCC adherent DFLers wouldn’t give her an endorsement and subsequently withdrew.  Have removed her from our list now.  :(

      12. Changed Shaun Brown from Democrat to independent and added a star…

She has been looking to run in Virginia’s 2nd district…  Both ballotpedia and wikipedia don’t list  her any more.

Apparently she missed the filing deadline requirements for running as a Democrat as noted here, but note in this article she says she will be running as an independent instead, so I’m keeping a star in her entry for now.  Note that she claimed she decided not to enter this race because the DCCC was also playing games and endorsing the other candidates instead of her too.  More of the war continues!!!

      13. Eric Hafner for U.S. Congress (OR-3) Democratic Primary May 15, 2018

I am a Democratic candidate in Oregon’s Third Congressional District challenging Earl Blumenauer in the May 15, 2018 primary election. He is facing challengers from the left of his positions due to his vote in 1996 to federally ban gay marriage, his main campaign contributor being Nike, his support of TPP, casting his super delegate vote in 2016 for Clinton (despite being in a Bernie district), and his lack of support for the 2016 Universal Healthcare Medicaid for All Bill. He is also under attack for taking $30k from the dialysis company DaVita and supporting a kidney bill they support, but kidney nonprofits oppose. My website is http://www.EricHafner.com – in Portland, Blumenauer is really too far right-wing in his positions, Portland is a very far left city compared to most places. Given that he voted against Bernie, and is really far right-wing (and there is no Republican candidate running) this is a time for progressives to vote for the best candidate, and the fact is it is a Democratic primary election anyway, so there is no risk of splitting a vote for the general.

        14. Eric, thanks for coming on here to JPR!

I was just the last day or two starting to get caught up again with many updates I’ve needed to do to the list here, which I’d not done much on for the last month due to many personal life emergencies (taxes, HUGE debts that are swallowing what I have left in assets, unemployment, health and health insurance issues, etc.) that have taken most of my time to deal with lately.  They are starting to subside now, though not gone yet.

You are certainly most correct about Blumenauer being two-faced on too many critical issues that are important to average Oregonians around here.  The same can be said for neighboring congresswoman in my district (Suzanne Bonamici), who I’ve had similar concerns with on things like TPP too.

I think that the event that really pushed these two congress critters in to the open as being part of the neoliberal establishment was when Obama came here to speak at Nike headquarters, just literally a few miles down THE road where I live in Beaverton some years back most notably when he was pushing for TPP to be passed, that of course Nike was wanting to help him push, and Blumenauer and Bonamici, being attendees to that event were obviously SOLD in to being partners to him then too.  Read more here:

        http://www.oregonlive.com/beaverton/index.ssf/2015/05/obama_in_portland_anti-tpp_pro.html

For starters, I noted that day that it was impossible to drive down Baseline Road with all of the protests in front of Nike’s entrance there and the added government security for Obama then that is a routine drive for me most days.  That event really helped me seek out Shabba Woodley, who at the time was running in the primary against Ms. Bonamici, much like you are fighting the good fight in Blumenauer’s district.  Shabba was great, even if he didn’t get elected, and I helped get him involved a lot more in to our county’s PCP organization then too, which he’s been a great force in, and is now running for Metro this election, where I really hope many around here support him running for.

        https://www.facebook.com/woodleyforwashington/

This election I saw that Ricky Barajas was challenging Suzanne Bonamici, and reached out to him too, after questioning him on Facebook on one of his issue stances he published supporting the current FCC chair’s actions on net neutrality, which were not progressive.  He noted that this was a mistake, and I wanted to accept that, and meet him to get a good feel for him as an overall candidate to know his real stances, and also to know whether that “mistake” was potentially a problem in how he analyzed issues in general and wasn’t just a random anomaly.  Had him attend our PCP meeting, which started off well, but suddenly he and his staffer just disappeared, and never made any attempt to contact me again.  So, I’ve been a lot more cautious adding candidates for local offices in these two seats this election.

We should meet for lunch or coffee somewhere too to have more of a talk on things happening here locally, though I think I have enough that you’ve signed up here for adding you shortly.  I’ve been hesitant about adding Lavine or Barnett either in this district until I’ve had more time to look at all of your campaigns.  PM me here.  Marc Koller signed up with his campaign a long time ago, and looked like a good candidate from his stances, but I’m open to adding more, especially for the Democratic primary coming up in a few weeks here.

      16. Utah voters have been $CREWED by state party convention delegates this year!

… which in effect made their “primary election” U$LE$$ later because the party in effect threw out delegates that the neolibs didn’t like from the ballot for the NOMINATION election so that voters wouldn’t have a REAL choice on who they wanted to represent them in that election.  This is also being reflected when editing these choices out at the convention.  Read more what happened here at their convention that threw out Mitchell Kent Vice for senate race and Darlene McDonald for 4th district race, and how even the other candidate in that race withdrew at the convention to give his votes to McDonald, but that still wasn’t enough to give REAL voters a choice in their primary election in June!

This kind of convention is what we really need to get MAD at and strongly dismiss if they don’t want we as voters to DEMEXIT these coming elections!  It is precisely what we as a party should work hard against.  I will post a separate thread after adding stars to these candidates’ names.  I believe the current system still allows them to qualify for the ballot if they get enough signatures to get on the ballot as the alternate route to getting there rather than getting “nominated” at the convention, which is what party establishment figures in both parties want to have replace any mechanism where voters have a full set of choices!  Those from Utah, read more as I will post info on legislation going through both state bodies where they are trying to eliminate the signature gathering mechanism to get on the ballot too.

Thank you so much. You’re getting the attention of many candidates too. Had another join over the weekend

      19. I'm going to focus research on Indiana, North Carolina, Ohio, and West Virginia

… since they are all the next primary elections on May 8th.

Then the following weeks I’ll look at Oregon, Pennsylvania, Idaho, and Nebraska since they all have primaries on May 15th a week later.

On May 22, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Georgia will have their primaries, and Texas their runoffs. then.

        20. Added Larry Chubb for Indiana's 1st district…

He looks to be the Berniecrat in this race, with his web site saying so here…

Would be good if we could confirm this with some Indiana voter endorsements too.  But he seems to be the “Bernie choice” in this district at this point.
