Hopefully, states will insist that their senators reopen the government for the purposes of local, and state revenue.

Perhaps Trump can keep his tax returns from the public if can keep the IRS closed with a national emergency.  Could be that the House has to wait for the government, the IRS, to reopen before lawmakers can get information on the Trump tax returns?  Maybe Mueller has been given 6 more months to carry out this investigation.  The Trump lead border crisis does seem very shady.

Some states like Texas, have no state income tax.  The Texas Legislative session just opened.  Texas still needs its share of federal money.

Perhaps the House of Representatives can stop the flow of federal money to the states.   State government may insist that their U. S. Senators vote to reopen the federal government.  All House members whose districts lie along the border with Mexico ran their 2018 campaigns on the promise that there was no crisis on and near the border.
