A New Harvard Study Just Shattered the Biggest Myth About Bernie Supporters

    http://resistancereport.com/politics/harvard-poll-bernie-supporters/

During the 2016 Democratic presidential primary contest, the “Bernie Bro” trope became a tried-and-true myth propagated by officials at the highest levels of the national Democratic Party apparatus. The pejorative — first deployed in late 2015 — was used to depict Sanders’ most ardent supporters as limited to young white men between the ages of 25 and 35 who were vociferous in both their support of the Vermont senator and their opposition to the eventual Democratic nominee and failed general election candidate Hillary Clinton.

Despite former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s loss to alleged sexual assailant and former game show host Donald Trump in November, top Democratic thought leaders continue to peddle the “Bernie Bro” myth to major media outlets. Markos Moulitsas — publisher of liberal blogging site Daily Kos — insisted to the Huffington Post’s Ryan Grim last week that Bernie Sanders supporters were overwhelmingly white and male:

“We remained steadfastly focused on the bigger picture, the Democratic Party picture. Again, less sexy, less excitement, but Clinton wasn’t Joe Lieberman and she was running on the most liberal platform in party history. We saw little reason to further divide our party,” Moulitsas said, when asked about why his site didn’t endorse Sanders despite 60 percent of its users supporting Sanders over Clinton. “Not to mention, given the decidedly white complexion of the Sanders coalition, it made little sense to hitch our wagon to a person who had such difficulties attracting the party’s key growth demographics — Latinos, African-Americans and women. In other words, we were focused on the future.”

Despite all the new data, it remains unclear whether or not leading Democrats will cease use of the “Bernie Bro” myth to justify their hatred of his policies and unflinching opposition to the establishment.

the democratic party future winning elections with out bernie sanders supporters good luck. all the clintonistas did was discredit the democratic establishment and minority support has doubled for trump with lowest black unemployment. what do these establishment democrats say don’t take these jobs that trump is offering wait till we get in to give you job training for jobs that don’t exist. civil rights groups yelling its racism that you don’t have job are yelled back at but I got a job now I don’t need you. big shot black leaders  and their organizations are having nervous break downs on cable tv as black america finally gets jobs. all this thanks to clintonistas race hustling. bernie 2020 maybe to late to stop the carnage in the democratic party.

    3. This is an awesomesauce.

I hope it will help progressives in 2020. I doubt it will though. Looks like Warren is being fed talking points to bolster her optics.

“The difference between Bernie and I is that I believe in markets.”

What the fuck? Painting Bernie as a communist?

    Time to worry.

    4. and didn't the Clinton campaign squall that Black urban voters in the Midwest

had “failed her”? every 24 months we have to submit to their shrieks of pre-blaming all and sundry for the upcoming loss and then the howls that the voters needed to know their betters afterwards: they’ve turned a personality disorder into a political strategy

the Clinton campaign created Trump with the Pied Piper strategy (Third Way = Bell Curve)

    5. Markos "Kos" Moulitsas apparently wants to emulate David Brock and get

on the neoliberal, corporatist DNC/Third Way/New Dem gravy train of the Clinton/Obama wing of the Dem Party.

So he’s comfortable wrapping himself in the “gauzy shroud” of “liberalism” that those “Dems” have been avoiding like the plague since McGovern ’72.

      13. I predict the words "Russian talking point" will figure prominently

"Slavery followed, even voluntary slavery; the weak eagerly submitted to the strong, on condition that the latter aided them to subdue the still weaker. Then there were saints who came to these people, weeping, and talked to them of their pride, of their loss of harmony and due proportion, of their loss of shame. They were laughed at or pelted with stones." - Dostoevsky, The Dream of a Ridiculous Man

    11. I like this; but it's from April 2017 –

    not exactly a “new study.”

    12. One little point

another statistic says that african americans are forming small businesses at a record pace. When you form a small business you are not counted as unemployed, regardless of if the businesss fails in a month or three or even fails to get off the ground. So anyway, the black employment figure could be a fraud.

This piece is dated 4/19/17, and they haven’t updated the site since 9/6/17.

kos certainly hasn’t evolved since then.

I actually think that Elizabeth Warren takes a great number of Bernie supporters, she probably does the best job of bridging the gap between the establishment and the resistance. She’s my favorite, but I also love Kamala Harris and Kirsten Gillibrand. We will have a wealth of candidates. Bernie Sanders will have a role in that conversation, I think he wants to have a role in that conversation, but I think his moment has passed and there is a future generation of Democrats who will be front and center… and I’m going to be in trouble for that one.
