A New Harvard Study Just Shattered the Biggest Myth About Bernie Supporters

Ryan Grim and Markos — you are both FOS.

Obama Labor Secretary Tom Perez encouraged the Clinton campaign early on in the primary election cycle to demean her opponent by labeling him as a favorite of white men and unpopular with the African American, female, and the Latinx demographics.
…top Democratic thought leaders are still irresponsibly peddling the myth to major media outlets today. Markos Moulitsas — publisher of liberal blogging site Daily Kos — insisted to the Huffington Post’s Ryan Grim last week that Bernie Sanders supporters were overwhelmingly white and male

Despite all the new data, it remains unclear whether or not leading Democrats will cease use of the “Bernie Bro” myth to justify their hatred of his policies and unflinching opposition to the establishment.

    1. Moulitsas/Huffington – a nice fit. Both are neoliberal entities and

neither will seriously address the real problems of falling living standards and rising pollution. They support the utter sterility of identity politics to avert any moves toward working class solidarity. They support the wrong side in the ongoing class war.

    2. they have a psychological and financial interest in having the party die

The radfems and others whose existence is tied to their group’s perceived persecution need badly to have the November fiasco attributable to white men and their profound, inherent character flaws.  Here’s a clue, folks:  A lot of the 56% of white women who voted for Drumpf in the GE would have voted for Sanders if we had offered that choice.  A whole shitload in fact.

As for Kos, he makes a lot of money by pandering to to the first group I described.

Finally, with respect to Bernie, if the identity politics chronic butt-hurt folks would rather support a train wreck like the Clinton campaign, that’s their loss.  Pretty soon they’ll have to find another party though because this one is on death’s doorstep.

    3. Just a smear campaign

When his opposition have no good reason to disagree with his policies they have to attack him in some other way. It is an obvious tactic and I wish more people would see through it.

      15. Typically feeling threatened is a major motivation for attacking others

Not saying it’s the only motivation for attacking others, but being threatened is very very common.

So, Sanders and his supporters have been ignored, laughed at and are now continuing to be attacked.

I suspect Ghandi would advise us that in the near future, Sanders and his supporters next stage is winning.

Consider the policy?  Hey, choosing to run on Identity Politics -IS- a policy decision.

    4. They couldn't attack the man

so they made the mistake of attacking Democrats and others that supported him and it cost them dearly as I wasn’t the only one to tell the Party goodbye.  For the record, I am white and male and upper middle aged.  I take the entire “Bernie Bro” meme as a personal affront and guess what. In the end I still voted for her and it made me sick, it still makes me sick.

Fuck Moulitsas, Fuck SV and everybody else that peddled that horseshit.

It still pisses me off to this day.

    6. Here are the stats from your linked article:

However, a new survey conducted by Harvard University and The Harris Poll disproves all of those comments about the Sanders coalition with hard numbers. According to the survey results, which were conducted among 2,027 registered voters between April 14 and April 17, 2017, Sanders is actually more popular among women, African Americans, Hispanics, and Asian Americans than white people and men.

According to the survey, 55 percent of men and 52 percent of whites approve of Bernie Sanders. However, Sanders has the support of 73 percent of African Americans, 68 percent of Hispanics, 62 percent of Asian Americans, and 58 percent of women. And even though Sanders identifies as independent rather than Democratic, 80 percent of Democrats approve of him.

    12. African Americans, females, and Latinx were used, exploited, as weapons

against the only candidate who fought for civil rights his entire life.

And this was Tom Perez’s idea?  No wonder Bernie scowls as he sits there and listens to the pusillanimous little corporate suckup at the … “unity” … tour.

    13. StevenD posted his response to this brouhaha at the GOS

And it is well worth a read. Not going to post a link to that site as it is probably hidden or taken-down by now. Fortunately, he has cross-posted it on the K4S Reddit:

    16. That was why I got kicked off that other site

Because I claimed Bernie was NOT a racist and was marching for civil rights when Hillary was a RepubliCON. How dare I write in the African American forum that Bernie had done more for Civil Rights than Hillary ever did.

I got angry and got banned then I just quit. I remember when that site was all about telling the truth and avoiding propaganda.

JPR has allowed me to keep my sanity.
