But it’s sadly inevitable if they nominate another useless DLC tool who will alienate half the voters. Just like they did in 2016.

National issues (slavery/racism, income inequality, pandemics and pathetic health care, weak unions) are not solved with more states' rights. Global problems (climate change, migration, trade, war, pandemics) are not solved with more nationalism.

I’m at a Green default level if the Democratic Party elects a Beto type. I’m a do know harm voter. Let others do the damage. The article is spot on though on how a Beto election would affect things.

That train has left the station. I will work against him, too, if he is the DNC anointed one. Kinda already started, with my grandson.

And a re-elected and empowered Donald Trump is not a progressive dream come true.

It would be a mandate to destroy the world, a task for which he is ideally suited. He would go berserk, and the Democrats would cower in fear.

…I liked the part about Beto = Nero

This is where the two party system has brought us and I’m fed up with it. If Bernie or maybe Tulsi is the democratic nominee then I will be behind them all the way. I’m not sure who else with a D after their name I can get excited about. It’s possible that someone else acceptable will rise to contention but I can’t think of who that might be. It’s most likely that I will be voting for the Green candidate while the two “lesser evil” parties duke it out for the White House. I have more hope that we can get some more progressive voices into congress.

I will not vote for Beto or any other Vichy Democrat with a corporatist/Republican voting record, but to say that Trump would be better is LOTE nonsense, IMO.
Besides, not a single caucus or primary vote has been cast, and all these people are uselessly speculating on the presidential election already. I find it annoying at best, and infuriating at worst. Worst is when somebody says Trump would be better. No one can claim to be progressive and say that, as far as I am concerned.

the election of Beto, not that Trump was in some general sense “better” than Beto.
That’s what I got from reading the article, anyway. And I thought he made a good case for his opinion.

if beto runs.Only a HERSELF run would make me vote Trumpy. But one thing I admire about Trumpy is that he brought forth tariffs even though ineffective to bring any jobs
Never expect different result by following the previous steps

That is what got us into this mess.
Besides, if Beto or Kamala would win the nomination over Bernie Sanders that would mean the DNC has cheated once again. I’m also not voting for cheaters.
Bernie or bust.
I would like to remind you that U.S. health insurance companies do not contribute anything to health care. They are only a PARASITIC middle man receiving an undeserved cut of "FREE MONEY".

1) He is so much fun to laugh at.
2) He can’t get anything done because even other republicans are leery of him. (Okay, yeah, he can nominate Supreme Court justices and piss off allies and threaten people’s retirement by jerking the stock market around and he can enable racists and gut the EPA and encourage fossil fuel use and encourage rejection of science, and he can grab pussies and violate laws and install cronies. But other than that, he’s harmless.)
3) It’s been fun to watch his DC dumpster fire burn.

Beto is probably too young and inexperienced to get nominated. If he was, I’d not so much vote for him as against the fascist. i
This would be an obvious case of the “lesser of two evils” as is every election. And, it ain’t hard to figure that out.

The author comes to this conclusion on the assumption that a 2nd term of Trump will cause a transformative FDR figure to emerge. As if corporate dems won’t try to push another centrist in 2024. For now, I’m just hoping we can get Sanders in there for 2020, and that there will be no Beto, Kamala, etc… in the first place.
