We went down because the server company had a power outage and our server got lost in a caching call and Ubuntu wet belly up trying to find the files.
However, because we went with this particular company to host our site, the issue was resolved quickly considering how many corrupted files were found. On a piece of advice from our hired gun, we chose wisely. He was absolutely correct that this company both cares and delivers.
There is nothing that we can change that will insure this won’t happen again, but next time we’ll get back up even faster because now we know who to call and we have a new complete total system backup plan in place. We purchased a boatload of storage space when we set up shop there and we gonna use it. So, the files that get screwed up can be extracted faster with our new backup.
My sincere apologies to one and all about having the site go down for 5 hours. It actually turned out it wasn’t Deadpools’ fault.
Damn. Just think of the grief I could have given him for the next year. All that fun down the American Standard. White in color.
Please forgive us and get back to what we do best. Real honest to goodness progressive politics and ideas.
It would seem that our hired gun really does give us good advice. I’ve never seen a company go to work on fixing a problem as fast and painlessly as this one did. Pure enjoyment even if it meant that the site was down.
Nothing like real pros that care about their customers.
The other option would be to put @sffh on “Double Secret Probation”
Oh, and BTW, I don’t know where the server company is, but if it’s in Calif. PG&E will be cutting power to about 1 million people occasionally because of some fire somewhere. Was going to post it, but got distracted.
You’re invaluable as a mod. You actually are responsible for keeping the place going. I just do the behind the scenes shit which gets it up and running, but doesn’t have a thing to do with keeping it JPR.
I love you so just keep on keeping us clean and lovable.
Well, at least keep us lovable. Clean might not actually be an option.
