That energy should be channeled on the injustice to George Floyd

My first thoought when I saw someone had smashed through an opening at a big box store was ‘at least its corporate’ — my second thought was ‘another good excuse to move everything to amazon/online’

then i saw black bloc-dressed people smashing the window at the other store, which is apparently already open at the door

& started wondering what’s really going on

on twitter trump supporters calling them terrorists

        saying ‘they’ve lost all credibility’

        been to this rodeo before

We have a simmering powderkeg of discontent, economic, political, and more. All things might take is a spark, or an excuse for some people to act out.

Economically there is not much hope for the masses, politically we have been offered no hope of real change. I’m not excusing idiotic, wrong behavior. But perhaps we should not be surprised.

I am actually feeling just a “tiny bit” bad for Target. It is not in my nature to feel bad for corporations at all, ever. But damn, they are having a lousy day. One store looted and trashed overnight, and now another store separated by an unpredictable angry crowd by St Paul police, a few in riot gear in broad daylight.

But if this is in daylight?

target is an amazon competitor, but they can’t loot amazon cause there’s no store.  they’d have to hijack individual delivery drivers and steal whatever’s in their truck.

less safety in numbers doing that, & less damage to amazon.  more damage to the peon doing deliveries, but bezos doesn’t give a shit about that.

have i told you lately how much i despise bezos and his kind?

And after much back and forth the officer who brazenly killed a man on camera may eventually be charged with something like aggravated assault — and then acquitted on appeal.

Meanwhile, the city will be successfully (and justifiably) sued, which will force them to cut back on essential services and to outsource some core services to private, profit-driven companies.

@rufustfirefly Black people have been mostly patient since Reconstruction. Joe Biden is partially responsible for Farley’s death with his crime bill and his demands over the years to lock those people up. Joe Biden’s targeted racist policies resulted in escalating police violence against black men in particular since at least the 90s with no repercussions to the damned cops.

And now he says they ain’t black if they don’t vote for him? That they owe him their votes? And then the bitch with the dog in Central Park and now this, in the middle of a pandemic in the country whose government has had the worst response, for working class people like Farley in particular, of any industrialized country on the planet?

As Nina Turner said today, this is a powder keg. Shit like this happens in revolutionary times. But please don’t ask black people to be patient. That can be…misunderstood, shall we say? Show them you understand their frustration.

I was being bitterly sarcastic and just plain bitter. I should’ve made that clearer. I’m with MLK on this (and many other issues of war and peace, violence and nonviolence).

What’s frustrating and discouraging is that there are many people among us (most of whom believe they are “good people”) who would write something close to what I wrote in bitterness and sarcasm and mean it in earnest.

If we are supposedly making progress, excuse me, but sometimes I just don’t see it.

Just how much more fucking targeted hatred towards them are black folks supposed to endure?? It is the amazing restraint of African Americans (like my wife) that impresses me. White folks having shit fits over being asked to wear a mask during a pandemic or to put their dog on a damn leash are the exact same people wagging their comfy, pampered fingers, at “those people” out in the only place they can be heard, the streets. GTFOH with that noise!

All governments lie to their citizen's, but only Americans believe theirs.

There are always some knuckleheads willing to take advantage of a situation. Doesn’t change the fact that the police murdered someone. I hope it’s a good sign that the mayor was calling for murder charges yesterday.

Of the Trump administration and the Republican congress bailing out Wall Street while giving small tokens, at best, to low wage workers who have lost their jobs, often forever.
Of mismanaging this pandemic for the profit of the well off in the health insurance and the health care administration.
Of sending body bags, instead of sending real help, like PPE and health care personnel.
Of bankrupting this country to further enrich the already overly rich, at the expense of the rest of us, without the necessary resources to maintain the needed quarantine and shelter in place.
Of shuttering main street, with the exception of essential services like gun stores and churches.
This country is a case study in what not to do during a pandemic.
Now they, and many of us, are going to blame the looters for not staying home and dying in place like good human stock should.
Treat people like animals and soon they will start acting like animals. That is what we are seeing here.
Treating people with respect, as in New Zealand and a few other places, this would not have happened.
Where is the respect our government has for the general populaces? There in very little. It is missing in action.

We are an arrogant species, believing our fantasy based "facts" are better than the other person's fake facts.

If you are wrong, it will be because you are not cynical enough.

Both major political parties are special interest groups enabling each other for power and money, at the expense of the people they no longer properly serve…

that it’s poetic justice to be looting a Verizon store (yes, I know, they are looting other places, too). Considering that the head of the FCC used to be a looter, uh, I mean, a lawyer for Verizon.

Who are you? | What do you want? | Why are you here? | Where are you going? | Do you have anything worth living for? | Who do you serve and who do you trust?
