The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.....Martin Luther King '63

It takes all the technical proficiency our system can provide to make up for the woeful lack of popular support and political savvy of most of the regimes that the West has thus far sought to prop up.........Bernard Fall

These “good ole boys” are still living in the past. 50 years ago this would have been just as wrong, but these morons would have probably walked. I hope that the judge has little mercy for them. They deserve to die in prison.

They had no defense. Any other result would really have been something else indeed, I must say.

Somewhat off topic, but it just occurred to me that I might be something of an outlier because I think the jury came to the correct decision in both the Arbery trial and the Rittenhouse trial.

Either way, good on the jurors for providing more evidence that not everyone is under the spell of the partisan hate cults, that there are still reasonable people who don’t decide who is guilty or innocent based on who can be counted as one of “us” or one of “them.”

You and I both think this way. The jury system can and does work in the US. This case was clearly murder. Rittenhouse was a scared kid laying on his back in the street with a mob who wanted to kill him. He was justified in using lethal force. He was on trial for murder, not stupidity. A kid that age should not have been there and should not have been carrying a rifle. But he was not charged with that, he was charged and tried for murder. The jury made the right call.
