Amazon Patents Flying Warehouses Staffed by Armies of Delivery Drones
January 4, 2017 by PAUL RATNER

If you are wondering about how the city of a near future might look like, imagining giant airships roaming the skies might soon be a pretty safe bet. A patent for Amazon’s flying warehouses revealed some quite futuristic but also very possible technological solutions that the online retail leader is looking to implement.

The patent, found by by Zoe Leavitt of CB Insights, describes “airborne fulfillment centres” (AFC) that will float above cities, at 45,000 ft, carrying goods to be delivered by an army of drones.

    1. So we're moving into the Jetsons era!

948c8f248a Thank you DNC, Hillary Clinton, The Hillary Clinton Players, GOP, RNC and CrossCheck for Trump. Enjoy it while it lasts. The Revolution may not be televised but it's beginning. And we'll win

    2. If you quit shopping Amazon the shit

will go away. it will dry up without money. The biggest weapon we have as citizens that can’t be stopped by the police is our wallets and pocket books. Now that Christmas is over shut the spending down. Cut off your cable and dish, ditch your cell phone, boycott pro sporting events, boycott chain restaurants etc. for one year and we will gain a major foothold against the 1%. They can’t force us to spend money.

      3. Get laid-off. Subvert capitalism.

Not sure that it really works that way. :-(

        5. I said nothing about being laid-off.

Just being selective with our spending.

      6. Amazon got so big through its connections: the more money you get the more

fields you can worm into; and then they play the old “we just provide goods and services at the market rate by using ideas nobody else thought of” schtick

automation always means someone’s getting paid less to do the heavy lifting out in the back

    4. glad to be on my way out. this creepy future is of no interest to me

isolated people buying shit delivered by automated drones.

what are these folks using for money since their jobs are gone

and who are they interacting with as their jobs and the public square are gone

and being so isolated, who are they anyway, who is programming them

    nah, no interest except scholarly
