Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez arrives withe Aurora James on the red carpet for the Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday in New York, New York.

Ooooh! I’m all aquiver because my hypocrisy detector overloaded and fed back into my central nervous system. Anyway, AOC went to a $35,000 a plate dinner at the Met in a dress designed by Aurora James(the other woman in the picture), attended by all the most fabulous trust fund liberal glitterati in New York, with this oh-so-brave in-their-faces message. It was well received by the liberal elites, as this article from the Guardian(link) demonstrates. From the article:

“Fashion is changing, America is changing,” James said, according to Vogue. “I think Alexandria and I are a great embodiment of the language fashion needs to consider adding to the general lexicon as we work towards a more sustainable, inclusive and empowered future.”

Fans dubbed the look “simply iconic” and called Ocasio-Cortez “an anti-capitalist queen”. Some appreciated that when surrounded by the elite, Ocasio-Cortez chose to flash a message meant to make fellow guests sweat.

“AOC wearing this dress at an event full of rich people … this woman has more balls than any man in Congress,” one supporter tweeted.

Jimmy Dore said not that long ago that every member of the Squad was a poser. If this isn’t posing, I don’t know what is. Here is someone who claims to be a democratic socialist, attending an event of the elite to which no member of the working class can ever afford to get into, carrying her “progressive” message in the most acceptably fashionable way possible.

Other than some comments on Nina Turner’s Facebook page, which included disappointment that Turner would post such reprehensible hypocritical drivel, I haven’t seen any comments from the real left yet, though I’m sure Jimmy Dore won’t be able to pass this one up, Kyle Kulinski will get a sad but refuse to call AOC the fraud that she is, and people like David Doel and Mike Figueroda may even defend this performance art as a great means of getting the message out or some such rot.  Or maybe they’ll prove me wrong. If they do, I’m sure someone will bring it to my attention.

As far as I’m concerned, if this doesn’t prove to you that AOC’s only goal is to maintain and enhance her celebrity politician status(if you didn’t know that already), or at least persuade you to stop sending money to these posing dog lackeys of the imperialist regime like AOC, Cori Bush, and Bernie Sanders, I don’t know what to say to you, except that you are not entitled to call yourself a leftist of any variety. At best, you’re just another establishment liberal who doesn’t want to rock the boat too much.

This display by AOC doesn’t sicken me, because she already proved her worthlessness months ago when she never once fought for anything she said she believed in on the floor of Congress. It doesn’t surprise me at all. It’s just another example of liberal banality and subservience to the financial elite. I do admit to avoiding the front page of JPR as much as possible just so I don’t have to look at her or any of the other posers in the photo.

It’s like when revolutionaries move into the palaces of the regime that they deposed, and rehire a staff of servants.

It’s “Eat the Rich”, not “Eat with the Rich”.

“Eat the rich” is an old revolutionary slogan, still commonly used by anarchists and people even further to the left than I. It means a completely different thing than “tax the rich.” If AOC had worn a designer dress saying “Eat the Rich,” that would have been a faux pas to wealthy liberals. “Tax the Rich” is fashionable, especially when the fashionable know that the Democrats don’t really plan to raise their taxes, and neither does AOC.

The wealthy liberals know that, too. AOC is their pet.

I mean if she were to parade around outside the Met with a similar message, okay. But to actually attend the event….

But quite a few people here have said, recently, they’d vote for Bernie if he ran again, and ask who else “we” have besides the Squad.

May be an image of text that says 'Scott Fullwiler @stf18 If we must tax the very rich in order to do big things, then we also need them to remain the very rich. From MMT's view, precisely b/c we don't need their $, we can finally have laser-like focus on ending massive inequities, whether via taxes or otherwise. 9:18 AM Oct 18, 2019 Twitter Web App'

She’s actually supporting keeping the rich class relevant, by insisting that we need their wealth before we can enact progressive legislation…
