SV has a completely different outlook on AOC and Biden. They actually think AOC is helping Biden.

The stupidity at that site is astounding.

I will be a Bernie supporter FOREVER. This whole thing with Bernie and his people oriented policies were meant to be introduced in this day and age!! Many have tried and failed in the past. Succeeding was almost impossible. It's kind of a gimme in today's corrupt 2 party system that you have to work within. Just look how things have changed in the past 8 years from Bernie's policies. It was meant to be. Wait it out. Change will come. Thank you Bernie for all you've done. You are a truly amazing person.

SV is full of political operatives and grumpy old people set in their ways. The political analysis over there is so laughable and divorced from reality it’s indistinguishable from Onion articles.

I should dig out my old password and go over there to see what’s going on, and maybe stir up some feathers.

I'm Snort McDork and I approved this message.

I didn’t actually listen to the video but I did immediately go to the New York Mag article mentioned, and read it with interest.  This led to some views of AOC on youtube.

AOC is brilliant.  A shining light that gives me some hope for US politics, for US culture.

Other than that I can barely understand US politics even tho’ as a Canadian I’m force-fed it 24/7.  It’s still totally alien to me and I don’t like to dwell on it too much.  I simply can’t get into the myriad threads of CT that seems to be the whole of it.

In any event, having my sanity saved by listening to a bit of AOC, at the end of that stream of consciousness I googled the wiki page for the premier of the province of Canada I live in, BC.  John Horgan leads the slimmest minority “left” gov’t in BC history and is hanging on by a thread.

The wiki page is actually very good at explaining the intricacies of politics in BC, the inscrutable essentials of how a Parliamentary System works and how, in this case, it worked to take down the absolute-capitalist bunch.  It explains how a minority gov’t in Canada works, in this case.  The article explains how the (very) union oriented NDP, which has traditionally represented the left in BC, is brought to account, else forfeit their governance, by a very small but correct rump composed of the newcomer Greens.  The wiki page doesn’t explain how the opposition to this minority gov’t acquired the name ‘Liberal’, since that’s an education in itself.

Since that item is easy to relate, I’ll explain it:  In BC political history the Social Credit party totally ruled.  They were the party of insider trading and no-rules plundering, and they made billions on having early access info on gov’t decisions on where highways, dams, etc. were going, exactly, so the long term profits were guaranteed.  The greatest majority of voters knew this about them and cheered, because they wanted to belong.  But then in a Trumpish moment their political party got too disgustingly greedy and the population puked and they were wiped out.  It wasn’t that the NDP won, it was that the Social Credit self-defeated.  Having been wiped out the movers and shakers and moneymakers behind the Social Credit, coupled with movers and shakers and moneymakers from all across the planet, decided to join and back their insiders in the BC Liberal party, which at the time was a vanishingly small one man type operation.  They voted the one man operation out, themselves in, and they were washed clean.  And they had the name ‘Liberal’ to paste everywhere, to spin with.  Cool.

SV is centrist central.  So who gives a ferk?

The owner of that site is so far into the pocket of dedicated “centrist candidates” as to be anathema to all.  In the sense of being being bought and paid for.

According to some reading from Alexa, that site and the co-hosted ‘discussionist’ generate a huge amount of traffic, dwarfing anything that actual left-wing sites put forth.

      I think that’s telling.

@algernon  I simply can’t get into the myriad threads of CT that seems to be the whole of it.

Neither can I, and I’m an American.
