Armed Michigan Protesters Storm Capitol as Lawmakers Debate Extending Governor Whitmer's Stay-at-Home Order

Protesters in Michigan, some of whom carried firearms, entered the state capitol building Thursday while lawmakers debated whether a state of emergency should be extended. An extension of the state of emergency would allow Governor Gretchen Whitmer to ask for a longer stay-at-home order…
“There was a lot of really disgusting symbols of hate,” Michigan Democratic Senator Dayna Polehanki told Newsweek in a Thursday interview. “You’ve got your Confederate flags still, disgusting, misogynistic signs about our governor, signs suggesting she may be killed… and then lots of people bearing arms.” Polehanki posted a picture of protesters looking down upon the lawmakers as they debated.
“Directly above me, men with rifles yelling at us,” Polehanki tweeted. “Some of my colleagues who own bullet proof vests are wearing them. I have never appreciated our Sergeants-at-Arms more than today. #mileg”
According to Michigan state law, individuals are allowed to carry weapons into the state capitol. However, they are prohibited from bringing signs inside.

When the Black Panther Party led an armed protest at the California capitol in the 1960s, then-Gov. Ronald Reagan signed a bill prohibiting open carry in public places. The NRA supported it.
The response today would be just as racist but more violent.https://t.co/oPGo8vP8ep

When a bunch of them die a few weeks from now most Americans will be laughing instead of feeling sorry for them and their families. Yes, that’s a horrific thought but it’s what our sacrificial predatory capitalist nation of morons has brought on themselves.

These are not “protestors”, or, “demonstrators”, these are domestic terrorists and fucking assholes. These people are bringing weapons, swatstika and Confederate flags into a God damn state Capitol building. I dont care if the law allows for it – they were there to scare, to intimidate lawmakers. There is a line that should not be crossed – and these fuckers more than crossed it.
Call in the National Guard. Arrest these fucking assholes. They are domestic terrorists. Last I checked we didnt fucking cower away from terrorists or call them “peaceful demonstrators”. Last I checked we didnt tolerate armed fucking nazis threatening our governors.
I don’t like Whitmer – and that’s not what this is about. If they had been black, LGBT, hippies, or any fucking thing but what they were, do you think they would get away with this shit?
No. People would be in prison – assuming they weren’t just shot.
This is not okay – and CNN and the rest of the fucking cowards “demonstrators protest at Capitol” are making it worse. This shit cannot continue to be tolerated.

does anyone know if it’s actually true that you can carry inside the capitol building?
i don’t know how to verify that.

There are lots of restrictions, including restrictions against carrying into any school or day care center, carrying into a house of worship, carrying into any Federal building including post offices, carrying into drinking establishments, any hospital, any casino, any entertainment facility that can seat more than 2500 persons…. But there doesn’t seem to be any law specifically prohibiting carrying a legal firearm into the Capitol building. SMH

The Republican-led Michigan House refused Thursday to extend the state’s coronavirus emergency declaration and voted to authorize a lawsuit challenging Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s authority and actions to combat the pandemic.

Those god damned fools are just going to keep getting people killed. I didnt realize I could still be this stunned – but nazi thugs storming a state Capitol building? And no arrests? Nothing? Lawmakers wearing bulletproof vests while these assholes get right in the faces of those protecting them.
Just, holy shit. The government needs to take action, these people are not protestors. It is only a matter of time before they kill a governor, or blow up a building.

There were also a few counterprotesters. One man drove a large truck by the Capitol, shouting: “Go home, rednecks — go home!” into a loudspeaker.

Euclid’s the home of the Thompson submachine gun, and local police have a whole stockpile of the things. And they don’t like gun nuts here.
Of course, there’s no state capitol anywhere in the vicinity. There have been similar protests, without the guns, in Columbus, but those get no media attention because they don’t fit the narrative of protests against a Democratic governor. Another fascinating lesson in manufacturing consent.

And they are nowhere near the crime riddled country we are.
But then again, this country was founded on genocide and built by slaves. And we have not out grown our beginnings yet.
We are an arrogant species, believing our fantasy based "facts" are better than the other person's fake facts.
