The expected ‘Italy levels’ of strain and collapse to the system has now begun in the United States, it appears, as on Wednesday New York, Hawaii and North Carolina have issued an urgent request to FEMA for emergency mortuary assistance as deaths mount across the states.

CNBC reports “A spokesperson for the Federal Emergency Management Agency confirmed the request in a statement on Wednesday,” and it’s now said to be under review but not yet approved.

The US on Wednesday reached above 60,000 confirmed cases and is on track to overtake Italy and possibly China in terms of total numbers.

New York, New Jersey, and California have the highest concentration of cases, with 17,856 Covid-19 confirmations in New York City alone. New York also has 285 deaths from the disease. Hawaii currently has 91 confirmed cases and one death, according to Johns Hopkins University figures on Wednesday. North Carolina has 529 cases and two deaths.

With almost 200 of New York’s deaths concentrated in NYC, and morgues feeling the strain, Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued an appeal for more…

Coronavirus News: New York City sets up temporary morgue amid COVID-19 pandemic

NEW YORK CITY — New York City is building a temporary morgue to deal with an expected influx of deaths from the coronavirus outbreak.

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner said Tuesday that the refrigerated structures and mobile command center going up in Manhattan were meant to provide emergency capacity if the city’s permanent morgues fill up.

A spokeswoman for Mayor Bill de Blasio said as part of the city’s state of emergency, the medical examiner’s office was enacting “emergency contingency plans to help prepare for every possible outcome” of the public health crisis.

The medical examiner’s office has used temporary morgues in the past, including in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

One death in Hawaii overtaxes their system?  Two in North Carolina?   This in a country that averages 100 deaths per day from gun violence?  Somebody is going to have to explain the math to me.

May have more consequences than we know. This should be handled by an organization who knows what to do with this disease.

I have been protesting the dumping of ashes into lake and rivers for a long time. Everyone around out lake thinks that pollution is a problem but never hesitates to add their families ashes to the mix. My kids have been told to bury me after cremation in a hole in which they plant a tree. Maybe some day one of them will carve my name on the grown tree.

At this point, the coronavirus is adding an additional thirteen deaths per day, and this has already pushed the morgues beyond capacity?  That doesn’t make any sense.
