AOC and Windmills”
Here’s James from the Internet showing us just how stupid Boebert and her ilk are. Boebert blames the Green New Deal for the Texas power outages! lol HOWEVER, The Electric Reliability (laughable!) Council of Texas says wind turbines have been the least significant factor in their power outages.
You’ve just gotta stay tuned to about 6 minutes in to see the unbelievable conditions of the POWER STATIONS. Pictures of them. They look like they’re in Siberia!
No one (greedy rich bastards) bothered to winterize their power stations.
This is really good. 👍

They want sure things like win and more profits for them. Lose and the insurance companies, and/or the people make up the difference.
How does a contingency plan fit in with this?We are an arrogant species, believing our fantasy based "facts" are better than the other person's fake facts.
If you are wrong, it will be because you are not cynical enough.
Both major political parties are special interest groups enabling each other for power and money, at the expense of the people they no longer properly serve…

Sounds like the electric companies have murdered those people due to negligence and furthermore, Texas, being the place that likes to executed people, should do that to the power companies.

by doing absolutely nothing about COVID-19.
James from the Internet mention the last Texas winter storm. I don’t remember the date he mentioned, but I do remember the pile-up on a bridge. It was bad and many people lost power during that storm too. The power plant owners discussed winterizing and KNEW they needed to winterize their power plant and just ignored it. It’s all about the almighty $$$$$$$$. To hell with people’s lives.
So, IMCPO, they are wholly responsible for this disaster. And I also know, being Texas, not one of those companies will ever be held accountable.
I’d love to know how they plan on getting blood out of a turnip when they send out bills for $9,000 a mwh. That should be interesting.

As to your comment about squeezing blood out of a turnip…
In a SF book I recently read, there was a quote from Margaret Thatcher: Socialism is great until you run out of other peoples’ money. Texas’ lack of oversight is kind of a form of socialism in that the companies, power and otherwise, can operate cheaply since they don’t have to worry about things like killing people, where worrying about them would necessitate the spending of money. Therefore, peoples’ lives are being spend to subsidize those companies. Thatcher’s remark could then be more accurately stated as, “Corporate socialism is great until you run out of other peoples’ lives.”
In the interests of staying in reality, I’ll acknowledge that they will not run out of other people’s lives before there is major civil unrest. So they are limited in just how cavalier they can be, but it’s still worth pointing out that this is a form of socialism, and a really bad one.

And all these Texas right wing loud mouth rethug pols like Cruz, Abbott, and the fake eye patch guy gloated over “liberal” California’s rolling blackouts last year, which were nothing compared to this!
All governments lie to their citizen's, but only Americans believe theirs.

for the people of Texas during a tragedy I have a hard time not remembering back to a time when there was an oil shortage in the Northeast. Back then some, I would hope non-typical, people in Texas came up with a cute saying about our need for heating oil, “let them freeze to death in the dark”. I have never forgotten that.

saying stupid things. Holding a grudge isn’t good for your health and mental well-being. Because I also live here and have to put up with the idiots. As we all know, educating them doesn’t work. Eventually, they’ll die out. Just remember that the idiots are everywhere, not simply this one region of the world.
Who are you? | What do you want? | Why are you here? | Where are you going? | Do you have anything worth living for? | Who do you serve and who do you trust?

I hold no ill will towards the people of Texas or anywhere else. I learned a long time ago the hate was a wasteful emotion, I would place holding a grudge in the same category. But forgetting? That is a different story. As someone who has weathered 40 below zero weather, whole weeks without getting above zero, and 18 days without power in below freezing weather because of an ice storm, I do have some empathy for the people of Texas… but when you have to sleep in your own bed, you should learn how to make it properly.
On edit: Added the heading that I originally had on my first post which got deleted when I had to resubmit it.
