Atlanta shooter was a ‘nerdy’ preacher’s kid.

Long was described as a religious person by a former classmate at Sequoyah High. The 21-year-old graduated in 2017. The classmate said Long’s dad was a pastor, and he had seemed “innocent” and “nerdy.”
“He was very innocent seeming and wouldn’t even cuss,” the classmate told The Daily Beast. “He was sorta nerdy and didn’t seem violent from what I remember. He was a hunter and his father was a youth minister or pastor. He was big into religion.”
Social media posts from the Crabapple First Baptist Church show Long and his family had a lengthy history with the church. Long’s father is not listed as a pastor at the church. The elders of the church released a statement to Heavy.com, saying they were “grieved” and “heartbroken.”
“We are grieved to hear the tragic news about the multiple deaths in the Atlanta area. We are heartbroken for all involved,” the statement said. “We grieve for the victims and their families, and we continue to pray for them. Moreover, we are distraught for the Long family and continue to pray for them as well.”

But religion makes good people do evil things.
Maybe, if not for his Christian training, he would not be a mass murderer. But with his Christianity, he murders people and is fine with his God and Christ.
Religion is a gateway drug.

I don’t see why the article focuses so strongly on racism as a possible motive
Seems to me equally likely that the sex trade could be the target
Which is why Cherokee county police are increasing presence at “similar businesses” and not asian grocery stores or asian businesses/institutions generally

While Georgia is changing, outside of Atlanta, it’s still racist as hell. Ever gone to a social event or restaurant in Georgia in the countryside with an Asian American family? Everyone and their brother is the son of a preacher in rural Georgia. Not only is he a hunter, but he’s a bow hunter apparently. Not violent?
March 17, 2021 at 4:35 PM #411279
I didn’t say anything about “not violent” @soryang
I said animosity toward the sex trade generally could just as likely be the motive as ‘racism’
Whoever did it, they targeted massage parlors, not non-whites generally
The asian women working at massage parlors are sometimes trafficked with a wink/nod/payoff by local authorities too
My guess, main reason is the local authorities appear to be protecting the ‘businesses’
And they’re massage parlors (not ‘spas”)
I used ‘alleged’ because every suspect is ‘alleged’ until proven guilty
That used to be the standard

this is bs character evidence after someone murders six Asian women. Members of my immediate family live in Georgia, and I’ve been visiting and traveling there regularly for 35 years. the notion that this isn’t racist or he isn’t violent is bs. He already confessed.
March 17, 2021 at 4:50 PM #411289
so why isn’t someone/the shooter shooting up asian groceries
plenty of black people in atlanta too, more than white people i think
probably lots of black-owned businesses too
why targeting massage parlors??
why just asian women (other than that these days, they are sometimes the majority of ‘masseuses’ at such places) ?

Men seeking sex in SC massage parlors are likely abusing human trafficking victims, experts say
How many human-trafficking victims work in NC massage parlors? More than you may think.
And in GA, MS, and other southern states per the map at the link.

She was 49, a recent immigrant and deeply in debt to a loan shark back home in China when she answered an employment ad three years ago that promised thousands of dollars a month, but offered no job description. She realized too late that she had been tricked into working at a massage parlor in Flushing, Queens, where besides kneading backs, she was expected to sexually service up to a dozen men a day…
In strip malls across the country, neon signs and brightly colored placards promise hot stones, acupuncture and shiatsu with photos of women or couples receiving relaxing shoulder rubs. But a traditionally Asian form of therapeutic relaxation with deep roots in big-city Chinatowns has spun off a different kind of massage parlor that has little to do with traditional remedies. It has exploded into a $3 billion-a-year sex industry that relies on pervasive secrecy, close-knit ownership rings and tens of thousands of mostly foreign women ensnared in a form of modern indentured servitude…
Women — typically Chinese, but also Korean, Thai and East European — arrive at Kennedy International Airport, learn the trade and are sent out to places like Virginia, Iowa, Texas and Florida…
(and Georgia and elsewhere)

A three-year federal probe into sex-trafficking in Arizona massage parlors fell apart after reports that federal agents got kinky while making their case.
Dubbed “Operation Asian Touch,” the investigation by Homeland Security Investigations targeted parlors in the cities of Havasu and Bullhead starting in May 2016 but fizzled out after defense lawyers learned that the agents engaged in sex acts with their clients.
That’s because the agency refused to release the names of the agents and dropped the whole thing, according to an investigative project at Arizona State University published by triblive.com…
Maybe the HSI officers were ‘racist’ too, that’s why they targeted and patronized massage parlors whose ‘masseuses’ were overwhelmingly asian

UTAH COUNTY, Utah, Feb. 8, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — Three more women have been arrested after a multi-month investigation into alleged human trafficking, prostitution and money laundering at multiple massage parlors in Utah County.
Jing Wang, 34, and Xiaoxia Liu, 60, both of Chicago, are both facing charges of:
Human trafficking, a second-degree felony
Money laundering, a second-degree felony
Pattern of unlawful activity, a second-degree felony
Tamper with witness or juror, a third-degree felony
Prostitution, a class B misdemeanor
The original investigation took place after American Fork police received an online complaint in September regarding a new “Asian” massage parlor at 376 E. 60 South in that city. The parlor’s website offered sexually oriented massages, the anonymous complainant said…“Some of the Asian females are forced to live in small closets or rooms within the massage business premise and given only minimal means for survival,” the police statement says. “If the Asian female victims are not living on the store premise, they often live with several other Asian women who are also victims of the human trafficking organization in apartment buildings or homes owned or rented by members of the criminal organization.”

If this were an Asian or something else… The whole response would be different.

Doesn’t sound racially motivated. Sounds like he had sexual hangups and possibly issues with women in general. Not sure about the racial demographics of the florida porn industry, but I doubt it is overwhelmingly asian. Another troubled and tortured soul who didn’t get whatever help/intervention he needed, ending in a large scale tragedy. Quite typical of spree shooters.
Long told investigators that the shootings were not racially motivated and that he wanted to “eliminate his temptations.” He also said that he was on his way to Florida to target the “porn industry” and could have potentially carried out more shootings.
Investigators said that Long has a sexual addiction and had frequented the massage spas. https://nbc-2.com/news/crime/2021/03/16/8-dead-in-shootings-at-three-spas-in-metro-atlanta/

So the shooter was a customer for these “massage parlors?” Well now, that’s different. This may not be racially motivated at all, much to the disappointment of ID politics liberals everywhere, but I see that didn’t stop our “Asian” VP from fanning the flames of the latest liberal cause du jour, which seems to be anti-Asian prejudice.
OTOH, maybe it is racially motivated. There is insufficient data to reach any conclusions right now, but I’m sure more info will come out. If the killings weren’t racially motivated, but were targeted attacks on sex workers for some sort of personal reason, the media will drop this story like a hot rock.
Doesn’t fit the narrative, you know.

Nerdy PK, suspect in killing women at massage parlors ONLY
= first clue that sex hangup may be the issue v. race

…saying, “i’m going to kill all the Asians,” while he was committing the crime.
Excited utterance, reveals motive, admissible in evidence.

Tell those of us who don’t read Korean who this as yet unnamed ’employee’ was
I posted a number of reports about ‘Asian spas’ for you
–Often trafficked women, typically from China, also other asian countries and eastern europe
–Kept in miserable conditions by the ‘spa’ proprieters: small quarters, not allowed to go out
–Sometimes given drugs
–Reported chinese mafia involvement in trafficking and proprietorship

Neither exculpatory nor mitigation evidence. Sounds like blame the victims.

You still seem to be laboring under the delusion that I am somehow trying to excuse the killing a/o the killer.
Its your delusion, or your preferred narrative, but not truth

“preacher’s kid” or PK doesn’t have anything to do with being young. it means the child of a preacher/pastor & connotes a set of likely characteristics.
