The only reason I don’t say he’s a bigger threat is because I don’t see any way that Bloomberg can defeat Trump in the general election. Bloomberg is the dictionary definition of an oligarch. Just in case there’s any doubt about what I mean by that term, let’s look up oligarchy at dictionary.com:

A form of government in which all power is vested in a few persons or in a dominant class or clique; government by the few.

A member of that dominant class or clique is an oligarch, and Mike Bloomberg, with his estimated $60 billion or so in assets, certainly qualifies. He outright owns a large media corporation that’s absurdly easy to spot–Bloomberg News. His past actions show that the 77 year old billionaire is a prototypical capitalist who has made his billions off of the labor of others and by financial manipulation, yet like all of them, makes it sound like he did all of the work himself.

He used his billions to buy the mayoralty of New York City three times and, while there, treated the city and its inhabitants as commodities. He’s at least as arrogant as Trump, and does not hesitate to use his power to impose his own personal standards on the population, such as his ban on large, sugary drinks.

Like most capitalist owners, he is accustomed to ruling his domain by fiat; that is, he is a dictator by long custom and habit. He’s a dyed in-the-wool racist who believes all young black men are potential criminals at the very least who deserve to be harassed by the police because they’re, well, black.

He has no respect for the United States Constitution or the Bill of Rights, as his stop-and-frisk policy in New York and his gag order on his news organization concerning election coverage demonstrate in bright, neon letters. He thinks everyone should live as he wishes them to because he simply must know best because he’s so “successful.”

He supported and supports the Project for a New American Century(PNAC), the neocon vision of American imperial dominance of the world by the projection of military and economic power. Even Trump never signed on to that scheme, but Bloomberg literally did.

Bloomberg supported the Iraq War and still supports it. No doubt he has all sorts of highly profitable MIC stock. I’ve seen hundreds of his omnipresent ads, always ending in “Mike will get it done,” and have never once seen him saying he would get peace done, or cooperation with other countries to fight climate change done, because he has no intention of doing either.

Bloomberg is a disciple of Reaganite, supply-side, trickle-down economics who is all for extreme inequality of wealth because it benefits him and his fellow oligarchs. He believes that taxes are for the little people, not the wealthy, and his actions show that he is opposed to the very concept of the minimum wage, much less a living wage.

He no more believes that health care, housing, a decent standard of living, or a clean environment are human rights any more than he believes in the rights enshrined in our Bill of Rights.

I could go on and on but there are plenty of other posts right here on JPR which trumpet the fact that Bloomberg is a Fascist by Mussolini’s definition of Fascism. He believes in using the power of government to advance corporate interests which happen to coincide with his own. In order to attain that power, he uses his money to buy elections and bribe people and organizations into supporting him.

To anyone who is reading this who say they value loyalty to a political party, Mike Bloomberg has no such loyalty. He switches from Republican to independent to Democrat depending on which label will buy himself the most power at the time. For all those who bleat that Bernie Sanders is not a real Democrat and are aghast at Bernie being officially an independent in Vermont, you cannot support Mike Bloomberg without being the worst kind of contemptible hypocrite.

Bernie’s been a member of several different political parties, but he has never wavered from his core principles. And he has never, ever been a Republican. Bloomberg has been, and in his heart of hearts he still is on critical economic, foreign policy, civil rights, and environmental issues.

Finally, it is apparent that Bloomberg is far more educated and intelligent than Donald Trump. Trump never touched a business that didn’t eventually turn to shit and go bankrupt.

Bloomberg, OTOH, has had much greater capitalist success, no doubt much of it government-subsidized or outright legally or illegally stolen(I consider offshore tax havens theft from the US Treasury), but success nonetheless.

If either Trump or Bloomberg are in the White House after January 20, 2021, democracy in the United States is effectively dead. They must be stopped, and there’s only one way to do it short of a real revolution.

Bloomberg does not mention Social Security for a reason – he wants to cut it.  I don’t think Bloomberg is the lesser evil here – he is used to making life miserable for people on a far grander scale than Trump was.  And enjoys that.  I would not make the mistake of listening to Bloomberg’s campaign pandering.  Look at what he has done.

Everything I post is just my opinion, and, honestly, I would love to be wrong.

Well I’ve found what could actually get me to vote for tRump and hia name is Bloomberg. OK, not going to happen, but it will be one less vote for a Democrat for president.

And to the Democratic centrists who think they are trading liberty for security here, you will get neither.

It’s clear to me that we are now in a place where TPTB are willing to remove all but the barest of pretenses of Democracy.

Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.

Come to think of it, besides Steyer, they are the only two who can because the rest won’t have the money if they don’t start winning, and keep winning.

It is possible Bloomberg will crater once voters really get a good look at this creature from the Outer Limits of Capitalism.

And thanks for voting last Tuesday. You all did good!

Hope it’s OK to post links to other opinion pages here. Don’t mean to break any rules. Lemme know if it’s a problem.
