Bernie Sanders calls for 'total transformation' of Democratic Party

Bernie Sanders calls for ‘total transformation’ of Democratic Party

    By Amanda Hoover  –  Feb 27 20017

A day after Democrats chose Tom Perez as their chairman, the former Democratic presidential candidate called for a major overhaul of the party.

FEBRUARY 27, 2017 —Sen. Bernie Sanders (I) urged Democrats on Sunday to undertake an overhaul of the party’s message as they move forward in the uncertain era under President Trump and seek to regain lost seats in midterm and local elections.

“We need a total transformation,” the Vermont senator and former Democratic presidential candidate said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“We need to open up the party to working people, to young people and make it crystal clear that the Democratic Party is going to take on Wall Street, it’s going to take on the greed of the pharmaceutical industry, it’s going to take on corporate America that is shutting down plants in this country and moving our jobs abroad,” he added.

Senator Sanders’s remarks came just a day after Democrats voted to select former Labor Secretary Tom Perez to head the Democratic National Committee over Rep. Keith Ellison (D) of Minnesota. The contentious race pitted Mr. Perez, who served in former President Barack Obama’s administration, against Sanders-backed Representative Ellison, who embodied the party’s more progressive wave, continuing the party’s ideological battle that came to the fore during the 2016 primary race.

    4. What is your tipping point Bernie?

I love you but I am not going to sit around waiting for you to go third party.

Bernie has the power to bring millions with him. He knows this. He must also know that those of us who left the corrupt Dems are never going back. And that number of demexit just keeps rising.

As someone said on JPR months ago-“You can’t change the mafia by joining up with them.”

“The first revolution is when you change your mind about how you look at things, and see there might be another way to look at it that you have not been shown. What you see later on is the results of that, but that revolution, that change that takes place will not be televised.” -Gil Scott-Heron

    5. I am starting to think Bernie is deliberately and carefully laying out the

reasons that the party is toast, and why his supporters won’t vote for them.  If he totally breaks with them, he loses pretty much everything in the Senate, influence, committees, etc.  I do wish he would STFU about the Russians, or give us undeniable actual proof.  Not that I mind the Russians keeping Hillary out of the White House, and, by the way, we have CIA DEDICATED to interfering in other countries’ elections, so what’s the big deal.

    • *Obligatory disclaimer - when I say "Democratic Party" I mean the DNC - the Clintons and the un-elected people and the consultants and the lobbyists and the corporations who actually run things.  The people who work and vote and are registered as "D" are no more the actual party than Trekkies are Star Trek.   Extra credit - the Democratic Party gets to actually fuck up your life. When you vote for it.
You think the only reason that people won't vote for a warmongering Third Way fracking-enabling cluster bomb throwing H-1B increasing lying pandering corporate and Wall Street shill who says she has no problem putting abortion rights on the table is because we are mad about Bernie?  Um, nope.

    7. "Sen. Bernie Sanders (I) urged Democrats on Sunday to undertake an overhaul of

    the party’s message”

No, it’s far beyond overhauling messages and shit like that.  Democrats need to actually stand for, like, stuff.  There were these ideas way back when that the party stood for people, workers, or just generally for doing stuff that would actually help the country.  Now they’re just republican-lite at best, and for seriously and deliberately screwing people most of the time.

Now we get another 4 years of the party going full Lewinski on Hillary and a rematch between her against Trump?  Fuck, just shoot me now!

Readin'?  That's un-American!  Get your ass in front of a TV!

    8. Bravo, Bernie! This is wonderful news.

Calling for “total transformation” is an expression of total repudiation.   It is not a go-along, get-along stance.  This is as bold as I’ve seen him w/regard to the Democratic Party (of course, his decades-long non-membership in it also made a clear statement).

Let’s see where he takes it from here.

    13. Transformation will only come through indictments for election rigging

Anything else perpetuates the D party’s criminal activity.  This is exactly why Sanders will fail to transform the party, issues don’t matter to criminals.

Time to start a new party Sanders.

      14. Jimmy Dore said in a recent video that the dems are doomed to make the same

mistake in 2018 because they are so blind. They are destined to lose again unless there was someone like Bernie in charge.

Give it up Bernie. They are pigs wallowing in the slime-and loving it.
