WASHINGTON — Just over 24 hours after announcing his presidential bid, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont has already raised $6 million from more than 225,000 donors, his campaign said Wednesday morning.

That amount far surpasses what any of his rivals have disclosed raising after their own announcements this year….

I am a supporter of Bernie, and this means that there are tens of millions more like me, just waiting for the chance to vote again for him.  This time we’ve got to make sure that no hanky-panky election tricks will succeed during the Primaries as well as during the General Elections.  Bernie is still the most popular politician in America today!  $6 million worth of donations within the first 24 hours of his bid for the presidency is definite proof of it!!!

The NYT piece was less of a hit job than I expected, but it did leave me cold.  Bernie is certainly no “outlier.”

I do believe this is unprecedented. That works out to the $27 individual donation times 225,000. In a day. When he has that kind of popular support, Bernie doesn’t need corporate donors.

    Suck on this, Vichy Dems.

(no seriously, this has been posted on certain DLC sites more than once.)

I didn't refuse to vote for Hillary Clinton because any goddamned Russian told me to. I refused to vote for her because she is a warmongering, election stealing, Goldman Sachs fellating, Republican WHORE. No offense to sex workers.

Bitter bunch over there. Seems like the sour grapes crowd missed the part about 225,000 individual donors too.

Obviously facts aren’t  important when it gets in the way of their poutrage…..

In the headline story this morning, the Huffington Post quoted the same numbers, but somehow managed to characterize the 6 million total as “more than double the $1.5 million raised by Sen. Kamala Harris.”

Looks like they share the same faulty source.

I would like to remind you that U.S. health insurance companies do not contribute anything to health care. They are only a PARASITIC middle man receiving an undeserved cut of "FREE MONEY".

I did the math – rounded to the nearest tenth, Bernie received 3.9 times the amount of money.

Even more importantly in my view – he received that amount from 5.9 times the number of donors.

    $5.9M/220,000 donations = $26.8/donation

Still the same grass roots quotient as 2016 primary. Did anyone else notice the check box for $27? Lol!

Never really got involved in campaign s ( other than got signatures for a candidate) but would think the numbers willing to work or volunteer (help out etc.) are impressive as well.

Bernie: Trump is terrified. He’s scared and he should be.

National problems (slavery/racism, income inequality, pathetic health care, weak unions) are not solved with more states' rights. Global problems (climate change, migration, trade, war) are not solved with more national sovereignty.

A CEO, an American worker and an immigrant sit at a table with a dozen cookies in front of them. The CEO grabs 11 of them, then leans over and warns the worker, "Watch out for the immigrant. He is trying to get your cookie."

Bernie’s announcement was a wonderful early birthday present (mine was Friday). I’d been worried he wouldn’t run but instead support someone else, but now I can rest easy. Bernie or Bust!
