The Vermont senator tightened his grip on the party’s liberal wing, benefiting from a field that has divided moderate voters.

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Senator Bernie Sanders narrowly won the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday, consolidating support on the left and fending off a late charge by two moderate rivals to claim his second strong showing in two weeks and establish himself as a formidable contender for the Democratic nomination.

Mr. Sanders had about 26 percent of the vote with 80 percent of the ballots counted, while former Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Ind., was a close second. Mr. Buttigieg split the centrist vote with Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, who surged in New Hampshire to finish in third.

Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Mr. Sanders’s progressive rival finished a distant fourth in her neighboring state and, in a stinging blow to his candidacy, former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. finished fifth.

The results raised immediate questions about how much longer Mr. Biden and Ms. Warren, onetime front-runners, could afford to continue their campaigns. Both had already cut back their advertising because of financial strain.

Good for Bernie, he waited for count to come in and gave his victory speech. He also congratulated the rest of the field.

Not to out to be out done, Buttigieg also gave his victory speech. His speech gave the message of, ‘Better a little, than none at all!’

Bernie deserves bigger and beyond wins. Keep it up Berners and Bernie!

Meant better here but he should go beyond winning to won.

I figure TPTB cheated massively to make it as close as it appeared to be.

I would like to remind you that U.S. health insurance companies do not contribute anything to health care. They are only a PARASITIC middle man receiving an undeserved cut of "FREE MONEY".

I agree.  Last night I saw polls on issues where Bernie was leading with 60 and 70 % .  This should have been a blow-out.

They cheat and they don’t care if we know it. They will say, “Well Bernie is a socialist.”, or, “Bernie isn’t even a Democrat.” They disgust me. I’m Bernie or bust and that is all there is to it.

I am suspicious. Nearly all of the polls had Bernie up by 7 and he won by 2. In Iowa, we know they took away 4-5% of the vote from him. That’s a correlation, but not proof. What it does show, and this is important, is that they can fudge the votes by about 5% max.

That just goes to show how important turnout is. If there’s high turnout, especially with younger people and the working class, particularly working class women of all ethnicities, Bernie will win. Period. @enthusiast

After all, they use electronic voting machines in that state.

They aren’t going to let Bernie have ANY state this time. They are going to cheat him in every damn one.

They are actually saying that if the “split centrist vote” had not been split, a centrist would have won.  IMO.  This is, again IMO, ammunition to be used sooner or later by the DNC.

NYT did an exit poll. It was not advertised. It showed 60% of the people who voted for Klobuchar were women. This ID politics in its full glory.

Buttigieg had most of press coming out Iowa as to being the winner. The media loves a horse race.
