Bernie trashing his own supporters is exactly why he lost

I know the media will never understand this but this moment right now, with Bernie trashing his own supporters is exactly why he lost. He was more committed to maintaining power for Dems than claiming it for his own movement.

With the majority of the despicable Democratic Party, the mainstream media, the corporations behind the media, and the previous Democratic president all against him, I am just impressed how well he did and how well he handled the pressure. The primary result in Wisconsin with Biden ahead by about 30 points just underscored how hard it is to get the message delivered to people to vote for their own interests even as they see the current system collapse.

president ever. I always felt he was trying to appease the Democratic Party. And now that I think about it I believe Trump is far more responsive to his supporters than the Democrats are to theirs. They just expect the Dems vote every 2-4 years then continue with throwing money at their donors and to hell with the rest of us. I see no reason to ever vote for them again. But then I’m not a Democrat and never have been. I’ve also voted 3rd party at times so there’s that.

He was in my state early in the primary calling Mexicans rapists but what scared me was the crowd cheered. I became fearful of a rising far right nationalist movement while Democrats and the media scoffed at his chances well he here is with his far right base.
As far as denying Russiagate what good would that do? It would shore up progressives but do nothing to appeal to the rest of the party and probably even lose supporters.
They already holsld his Russian sanctions votes against him even though he voted for Russia only sanctions. Voted against Iran – Russia sanctions because it threatened the nuclear deal. He missed a Russia sanctions vote to meet with to meet with survivors from his 2016 campaign which I’m sure he would also be criticized if he skipped on that meeting.
I’m voting Green because both Trump & Biden suck.

the entire system was against him, especially coalescing against him after he won Iowa, NH and Nevada. But nonetheless, there is no reason for him to trash his supporters as irresponsible if they don’t vote for Biden. That statement is an irresponsible smack in the face. That and the fact that Bernie was essentially already running against Trump, repeatedly citing the orange one’s many faults (which we all know), but NEVER citing the similar faults of his primary opponents, especially the equally awful, if not worse, Biden. In a primary, you run against your primary opponents; and Bernie’s Democratic “good friends” were truly back-stabbing OPPONENTS!
I appreciate all Bernie did, his ideas, moving the conversation, but now he needs to STFU. I truly regret donating repeatedly to his campaign. My money would have been better spent donating to JPR. But as an old person (I remember Eisenhower and my beloved JFK), my heart goes out to all the young people who poured their hearts and souls into Bernie’s movement and believed in him as a leader. The young people who now feel utterly betrayed and jaded not only about the rigged system, but also about those leaders who emerge promising change, but then end up supporting the very system and the very people who are emblematic of everything that is WRONG .
I think many gave Bernie a pass in 2016 because they understood that he didn’t want to be labeled a spoiler like Nader. But he was, anyway! And given that, many thought he would buck the system this time around. Alas, when the system aligned against him, when the system cheated, he chose to stick with an empty pledge, and caved early. Despite understandably suspending his campaign given the COVID-19 situation, he didn’t have to endorse Biden so soon (even the snake hasn’t yet done that), and certainly didn’t need to smear his supporters.
That’s a low blow and reeks of political cowardice. It sends a message to young people that in the end, he’s just another politician (all words), looking out for himself, for his power in the Senate! Yet Bernie will be fine regardless of who’s president. He’s 78, has a great Congressional salary with a good pension when he steps down, great healthcare, and other benefits for himself and his family. But all of those who supported him, who believed in him, who donated small amounts to his campaign even when it was financially difficult WILL NOT BE FINE under Biden or Trump. And he knows that!
The movement will go on, but every movement needs a leader, a strong leader who shows conviction against all odds and who will fight for the cause and its supporters to the bitter end. Bernie’s words of the last week are a HUGE betrayal. I now have even more respect for Nader who was right about the duopoly in 2000, who never betrayed his supporters, and who continues fighting the good fight to this day.

I always wanted him to go after the enemy harder like AOC does. Supporting the people who hate you over the people that love you is not a good ending. The lesser of two evils is still evil. I was told in 2016 you bernie supporters cost clinton the election. My answer was your damn right and we will do so again if you try and foist another establishment corporate stooge on us in 2020!

was to get Bernie out of the race. The DNC merrily and legally fixed the primaries, as usual. My sister is a Biden supporter and had already swallowed the Kool-Aid about how Bernie was “too extreme”.
Waiting for the other shoe to drop, regarding Bernie bashing. Bernie is still a senator, still trying to do good things. I am disappointed in some things, but the trashing I see is pointless trashing of Bernie. I will not be joining or voting for any third party or effort based on Bernie bashing. No, Bernie is not a saint, but it is fascinating how quickly and how viciously some have turned on him. Waiting for some to sound exactly like SV, calling for Bernie to resign.

I give him credit for that. He has worked within the system better than most but he never believed his own “revolution” stuff.
When he parroted the Russia-gate stuff I knew he was fully on Team DNC. Russiagate is the kayfabe of the Democratic Party: a fake backstory worthy of pro wrestling that they don’t believe but put out there for the marks. Neo-McCarthyism designed to keep Trump from moving left on NATO, Syria and war in general.
Thanks for all you have done Bernie. We found each other and we don’t need you or your friend Joe anymore. We’ll take it from here.

‘Hard Left’ has decided to throw Bernie under the bus. How SV of them.
As a member of the real Left, I applaud Bernie’s attempt against all odds. He went further than expected.
My vote won’t count, as a red state resident. But this orange asshat doesn’t deserve another term, he’s robbed us enough. He needs to be in prison along with the rest of his sycophants. If electing another do-nothing dem is the only way to get rid it, then so be it. Let’s concentrate on electing progressives in lower offices.

d503. You might want to be clear on the history of the do nothing Dems
lets start with billy bob clinton. Rapist, racist Crime bill took African americans back and they still have not recovered. Deregulated Wall Street, aloud media consolidation, aloud lobbyist and big money to buy all of washington DC. Ran a bombing campaign on a country that had no way to defend itself. Put sanctions on Iraq that caused thousand of Iraqis to die.
Obummer. Lied his way through 8 years. No healthcare for all, left it the hands of insurance industry, did nothing for a month during the gulf oil spill, played wack a mole with oil pipe lines. Said no the the XRpipeline while seeing to it, 3 new lines were cleared to go. Sold fracking as a clean bridge fuel, started more wars, deported more refugees then anyone before him, started the use of cages on the boarder. Ran a coup in Ukraine a new slaughter in libya, faked gas attacks in syria, enlarged the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan put american troops in Africa at the behest of the oil industry Afri-Com. Privatizing education
Joe biden. Racist, rapist, worked to keep segregation, wrote the crime bill, pushed for every war from Yugoslavia forward. Loves supporting the pentagon budget that now consumes over 70% of the discretionary budget. Gutting education hates m4a. Tried and supports cutting SS. Love working for the credit card industry, of shore bankers. Loves coups. Loves getting his kids jobs in countries he pushed coups in. Loved blaming russia for everything while supporting well over 800 bases mostly surrounding russia. lie constantly gave us clarence Thomas loves Roberts.

He honestly believes what he says and he is not a liar or sexual abuser.
Bernie is not your enemy. He did his best.
Yeah, he honestly believes Not voting for the “free” trader, trickle down believer, sexual abuser is better than voting for the psychopath or not voting.
But he doesn’t understand that Biden is destined to lose. He was selected by our masters to lose to Trump. It’s what the filthy rich want. It’s already written in the stars.
But Bernie does not know that the fix is in. Bernie trusts whatever Obama spewed. You know the baby stepping Obama look forward blindly so you can’t understand what just happened lie.
Obama knows the filthy rich have already cast their vote and is making big bucks for convincing Bernie to drop out. Trump is making our filthy rich masters super duper rich. They are not going to allow anyone to change this. Dementia Joe was selected to lose to Trump….anyone else might have won. But Bernie doesn’t believe this.

@fasttense Yes, I listened to him there as well – it’s why I became a Bernie supporter long before he was a Presidential candidate. And also probably why he was an independent – his policy beliefs were not supported by the Democratic party, as seen in 2015-2016 and now in 2019-2020.

He should remember from 16 how adversely effective
voter shaming can be. He could have used more
positive words. “Irresponsible” is derogatory.
Thanks, but no thanks.
