This article could also be entitled “Biden’s Word Salad at the Democratic Debate.”

The record player moment arrived as Biden talked about bringing social workers in to help parents “deal with how to raise their children.”

“Play the radio, make sure the television … the excuse me … make sure you have the record player on at night … the … the phone …” Biden said (see video clip below). “Make sure the kids hear words,” he said. “A kid coming from a very poor school — a very poor background — will hear four million words fewer spoken by the time they get there.”

First, there was the issue of record players not exactly being something that people have in every household in 2019. Second, viewers wondered why the candidate’s mind turned to record players at all.

There are some hilarious memes and tweets at the end of this story.

Sen. Cory Booker mocked Joe Biden after the former vice president told parents to play records to their kids to help them in school during the Thursday Democratic primary debate.

“I think there a lot of moments where a number of us were looking at us on the stage when he tends to go on sometimes,” the New Jersey Democrat said after the debate. “At one point, he’s talking about people in communities like mine listening to record players. I don’t remember the last time I saw a record player in my community.”

“The vinyl is hot right now. Maybe he’s cooler than I am. There are definitely moments where you listen to Joe Biden and you just wonder. I don’t know — look,” Booker said before CNN host Dana Bash asked him if he was implying that Biden is too old to be president.

Booker, 50, said he did not think Biden was too old, but that the party should nominate someone who is exciting and has energy. The New Jersey senator’s taunts against Biden came after the Delaware Democrat implied that record players are still the most popular listening devices.

I have one of those taking up space on a shelf but I haven’t used it in a looooooong time.  I dust it once in a while.

I feel much better since I gave up hope.

Still have a turntable down here, but as you can imagine, storing vinyl isn’t easy in this heat. Got as many warped records around here as warped souls.

I didn't refuse to vote for Hillary Clinton because any goddamned Russian told me to. I refused to vote for her because she is a warmongering, election stealing, Goldman Sachs fellating, Republican WHORE. No offense to sex workers.

with the way he confuses words, I’m surprised he didn’t tell them to get out the pornograph and teach the kids some new words!

I even remember the record players with the extra fat spindles allowing you to play 45 rpm records.  What a tone-deaf comment!
