I got an email from a friend yesterday and she actually said we have to “vote blue no matter who”. I didn’t respond. I’m feeling depressed and burned out by the whole thing. I don’t have the energy to argue with people. What is everybody else doing? Sad that seemingly intelligent people can’t see that Biden is as a big a pile of crap as Trump.

Arguing won’t likely do any good and will only piss both of you off.

I’m finding that I am treating Biden supporters like Trump supporters, just avoiding discussing politics with them.

…At least Trump supporters can admit Biden has dementia and Russiagate was fake! The willing blindness of centrist Dems is scary.

@pam2  – Trump supporters think he is God’s savior and Brilliant. They can’t/won’t admit that he is a con artist who never admits mistakes and doubles down on his failures. As well as leading the way to a RW fascist future with judges and government officials he picks for loyalty to the cause.

There is no good side between these two.

Just one irrefutable point: Trump has gotten us into no new wars. Biden was for every potential new regime change war that came his way and never voted against a war or funding for war. Therefore I know Biden will get us into some new war, but I don’t know if Trump will for sure because he hasn’t so far.

Then I ask them why they are voting for a known warmonger. All these liberals I know don’t want to be known for supporting war, so that one hits home every time. They get angry or act all hurt. Then I suggest they should thank me for either voting Green or not voting because the next choice on my list is actually voting for Trump, and suggest that they never broach this subject with me again if they don’t want to get upset, because they should know they will never persuade me to vote for the Vichy Democrat Party.

Most of them will never want to go there again and just won’t bring up the subject anymore, of that I am sure.

Oh. The war thing? It’s short, and for me it was very effective on Facebook. It was gratifying to get so many likes and to know that there are more like-minded people out there.

they don’t want no wars, they want wars they don’t know about

they want to go back to sleep, before politics happened to them in 2016 and Merkley told them about the cages

@ohiobarbarian I’m sorry but I can’t agree with you here. Trump has been every bit as bad as Obama. What the hell do you call what his admin is doing to Iran, Venezuela, and Cuba if not war? He is actively trying to kill people in those countries by denying them medicine and medical equipment. You say Libya, I say Bolivia. Trump is just as bad on the environment, if not worse.
He has yet to end an occupation in a single fucking country. He hasn’t closed a single fucking military base. He has pushed for larger and larger military and spy budgets. Now he is pushing to destroy the Postal service.
And anyone who believes a single promise about healthcare that comes from him is completely delusional.

…why Biden is supposed to be better than Trump? The D beside the name doesn’t erase all his horribleness.

@pam2 I talked to one such person last night, a friend who voted for Bernie in the Texas primary. I asked him to name four Biden policy positions that he supports, and he couldn’t name one off the top of his head, which pissed him off. Hey! That’s not my fault!

Oh, they’ll go on about Trump’s obvious racism, misogyny, corruption, and buffoonery, but another article of faith that they all have is that the #1 priority is to Dump Trump, so literally nothing else matters. They might as well be saying “God wills it,” just like those fanatical Christians and Muslims they despise.

And that’s exactly what believing D > R and that Trump must be defeated or all is lost are–articles of faith, presuppositions accepted as Truth that cannot be questioned. They are just as silly as many Republicans are on such things.

@pam2 They like to look down their noses at Republicans, and talk about how much more educated and cultured they are. Yet they are almost as blind to facts that challenge their assumptions as the Republicans they so despise.

Plus one! We cannot persuade Vichy Democrats to do the right thing.

I tell Biden supporters that Trump did not start new wars, he is proposing medicare for all Covid19 patients, he is against TPP, put some tariffs against Chinese goods, and the intelligence agencies hate him.     All qualities that make him better than Biden, even though I would never vote for him.

I do the best I can do for my family and community. I’ll spend the rest of my political life working on democratizing elections and probably help the Green Party get ballot lines. Everything else seems to be a dead end.

Very weird. It’s like they support him because he’s the ( presumptive ) nominee, but he’s not the nominee because they supported him.

I’ve never met a Biden supporter of any age in the run-up to the primary. They guy had no grass-roots ground game…AT ALL. Now he’s Joe King Shit.

So how did a guy with no popular support suddenly skyrocket out of the cellar?

    Like I said; very weird.

It’s our movement now. Where do you want to take it?

New Party sounds good to me. And since we are a diverse and inclusive crowd, we can start by inviting the DSA and the Greens and the Working Families Party to join us.

Next up: attacking the whole system from the left. Drum out every neoliberal we can get our votes on. No need for primaries: just use the mail-in-ballots.

@pam2 Watch how your Blue Team cheerleader friends say that Joe simply must be replaced by a woman in the next few weeks, and then proclaim how whoever is picked to replace him this summer is The Perfect One as they fall in love with Her on command.

Weird, I know. Some people just won’t think for themselves when it comes to politics.

I mentioned Joe’s cognitive decline on a pro Bernie FB page. My sister-in-law saw it and went ballistic. She posted “fuck off” to anyone who “liked”  what was a rather innocuous comment and ended up unfriending me over it. I get that she hates Trump. I’m not a fan either. But the inability to have a civil discussion about Joe, just wow. Completely off the rails.
Another FB “friend” posted a pro Biden piece touting his stupid idea of lowering the Medicare age to 60. I pointed out how that leaves most people in the same rapidly sinking boat they’re now in and said we need universal coverage. That set some other “friend” of his off. He called  me and Bernie every name in the book and accused me of wanting to destroy the economy. I have decided if I come across any more militant Bidenites, I’m not going to engage. You can’t argue with a brick wall, and these people think Biden, a right of center man in cognitive decline who has a well documented  propensity for touching girls and women inappropriately, is the type of guy they want to vote for. I can only look on in disgust.
