WILMINGTON, Del. (Reuters) – President-elect Joe Biden will unveil a stimulus package proposal on Thursday designed to jump-start the economy during the coronavirus pandemic with an economic lifeline that could exceed $1.5 trillion and help minority communities.

Biden campaigned last year on a promise to take the pandemic more seriously than President Donald Trump, and the package aims to put that pledge into action with an influx of resources for the coronavirus vaccine rollout and economic recovery.

The incoming administration will work with Congress on the quick stimulus package after Biden takes office on Jan. 20, although the impeachment of Trump threatens to consume lawmakers in the initial weeks.

The stimulus package has a price tag above $1.5 trillion and includes a commitment for $1,400 stimulus checks, according to a source familiar with the proposal, and Biden is expected to commit to partner with private companies to increase the number of Americans getting vaccinated.

$1600 checks to 150 million people is around $250 billion. That’s $1.25 trillion elsewhere.

If you haven’t worked for 10 months, a total of $4000 is $2.50 per working hour.

      I’ll wait for details –

If he wants to ease political unrest, one of the first things he should do is send out Stimulus checks. A lot of people would be happy receiving $1400 — including Trump supporters.

….already received this month – adding up to the $2000 that should have been sent out in the first place.

OK.. it’s a start. But if Joe really wanted to be serious about this “Everybody mask up and stay the fuck home for at least 100 days” he would turn that into $2k/month until this pandemic is under control.

As for helping corporations, well the best way to legitimately help a corporation is if they’re able to sell their products. And you can’t sell products to people who have no money. Send the checks to the people. The people buy stuff with it. Corporations get some of the money. Problem solved, right?

Before 1980, that used to be called “the economy”.

Many local governments are hurting for operating funds because too many people don’t have enough money to spend on necessities, let alone much else.
And like you said, the corporations end up making money too. Everyone wins.

      These ones:

WILMINGTON, Del. (Reuters) – President-elect Joe Biden will unveil a stimulus package proposal on Thursday designed to jump-start the economy during the coronavirus pandemic with an economic lifeline that could exceed $1.5 trillion and help minority communities.

A significant portion of the additional financial resources will be dedicated to minority communities. “I think you will see a real emphasis on these underserved communities, where there is a lot of hard work to do,” said another transition official.

Basically, they’re doing means testing rather than a Universal Program, and also expressly stating that it is for minority communities rather than just saying struggling communities.

Since many working-class families are struggling right now.  In fact almost everyone is struggling right now, and all this does is create even more friction since people are seeing everything they built up lost.

That’s the massive transfer of wealth that has happened in recent history, and why there are so many people wishing to go back to when they felt they had stability.

Honestly, all he is doing is stroking even more class and group divisions than ever before.

..a lot of the people who are already Trump supporters will be even angrier.

The checks and funding should be universal. No means testing,no identity stuff.

That’s how you pull a country together—treat everyone equally.

Everyone is hurting right now.  I mean, I understand some need more help as well, but there should be more Universal programs at the moment.

I didn’t want to vote for Biden, but neither did I want to vote for Trump, so I voted for the Green guy, and I forget his name, lol.

But it was Biden and his team that bickered down the second payment from $2,000 to $600. His economic adviser stated publicly that she doesn’t like stimulus payments AT ALL.

So $1,400 is simply coming back to the original meager proposal for 2nd Stimulus checks.

PLUS he’s porking it up with all kinds of corporate giveaways.

      So not impressed.

these people are so slimy and unethical.

They said, “If you want a $2,000 check, vote for Biden.

Nevermind… we meant $1,400 added to the $600.

      Bait and switch asshole POS.

IF THEIR MOUTHS ARE MOVING, THEY’RE LYING.  Remember that.
