Biden’s Presidency Has Already Failed < — web link

      snip …

Yet the Great Recession, bad as it was, was nothing compared to what we face now. In January 2009 first-time unemployment filings totaled 600,000. We were terrified! And rightly so.

      It’s nine times worse now.

And in January 2009 the labor force participation rate was 65.7%. About 7 million Americans have been unemployed so long that they have given up looking for work since 2009. They’re not in the official unemployment rate, but they’re jobless in all the ways that matter. They’re broke, they’re not paying taxes and they’re a burden on the welfare and healthcare systems.

Obama’s first-term economic stimulus package was anemic. It bailed out Wall Street, not Main Street. So it took seven years to dig out of the hole—nearly the entirety of Obama’s two terms as president. Insufficient stimulus led to big Democratic losses in the 2010 midterm elections, the Occupy Wall Street movement on the left, and Trump’s populist takeover on the right (interestingly, Trump carried counties where it took longer to recover).

      snip …

Even if Biden were to pull a miracle bunny out of his hat by convincing Congress to pass his stimulus package intact, those $1400 checks won’t be nearly enough to pull the economy out of a tailspin. Obama’s stimulus, worth $950 billion in today’s dollars, was half the size of Biden’s. But Biden has a hole nine times bigger to dig out of. In relative terms, then, Obama’s stimulus was 4.5 times bigger than Biden’s—and everyone agrees it was way too small.

..pushing for his $1.9 billion aid package which includes $1400 stimulus checks. So claims the lead story at CNN this early Monday. Republicans have their own proposal now, roughly a third of the size. Apparently, stimulus checks are included, but capped at $1000 for individuals earning $50,000 or less.
Guessing around zero of the folks here are surprised by this, but there are some folks in Georgia that are shocked—apparently they truly believed the promise of $2000 checks.  🙁

The one thing that the Rs are right on is that if the stimulus goes to lower income families it will be spent faster and be more immediate help. But they are dead wrong regarding how much money it is going to take to fix this mess that they have created for the last 40 years.

But…but…Joe hasn’t even been in office two weeks! And you leftist ingrates are already saying his presidency has failed??!! You’re being unfair! Would you rather have Trump?

Unfortunately for them, that broken promise of $2000 checks flying out the door, and the determined lack of action on the part of the Democrats to deliver that promise while already reducing their amounts and delaying them for who knows how long, probably forever, will not go down well once it well and truly sinks in that Democrats have, yet again, betrayed their own voters.

I’m actually looking forward to the inevitable backlash. It should be epic.

        Hi ob,

“Leftist Ingrate” reporting for duty in the army of the dispossessed.  Looking forward to promotion to “Inglorious Bastard” and then the coveted rank of “Deplorable”.  If there are openings, I would prefer serving in the decorated “Guillotine Corps”.  Coming from a family of butchers, “fine edges” are a well honed skill.

Ohio facebook and twitter are all about this right now and everything in our history that is bad is all the republicans fault! It is impressive. Do you think they will play the Trump card for 3 years then go straight into lessor evil?

I hope not, but they’re still going on about Russiagate, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they did.

On some other message forums the “socially liberal but fiscally conservative” comfortable class is shrieking in panic as though last November’s election was happening tomorrow. They’re already setting up for mid-term VBNMH or else the Trump bot crazies will rise again. Same “we just have to win…then we can do good things” BS. Plus, they reply with vicious scorn and condescension to any who disagree: we’re either deplorable crackers or Russian bots.

They’re going to shit themselves after the midterms.

Anyone but their own shitty Democratic politicians, and anyone but themselves. It must be nice to never be wrong about supporting any politician. What’s that like?

What is bizarre, to me, is seeing how people who evidently do have at least rudimentary reading and comprehension skills opining that all Biden needs to do is drive out conservatives or insurrectionists or listen to we the people or whatever, and then he will “do the right thing”.  Biden is, for himself and the Democratic Party, and their donors, fucking doing the right thing.  The delusion is that anyone still thinks the well-being of the American people is part of that.  Fucking obvious, or should be, that our well-being is not a goal, it is a target to be chipped away at.  Biden fucking lies to our faces, and people STILL think he is going to “do the right thing”.  Newsflash – “the right thing” is not anything good for us, and best to understand that. Or at least stop with the sad little hopeful articles, it is kinda embarrassing, in a way.

Everything I post is just my opinion, and, honestly, I would love to be wrong.

and not interrupted by rude tweets, Biden is a success.

I already have to remind some family members who do nothing more than “watch” the news (avoiding higher thinking skill sets) that this administration and the Democratic party has just as much to do with moving this country into the direction of command and control of the proletariat, who will not receive anything that was promised, and the abysmal amounts of “help” are not targeted to the Republican party, but BOTH.

I need some good references to make a point, but I’m already defeated in making the point because you have to be willing to read for meaning and actually look at the legislation coming from both parties.

Hell, no... I'm not giving up...

They read to enforce their own views and biases.

A common example are people that say they have read the Bible X number of times, cover to cover. And do not know there are two versions of the creation in Genesis, that contradict each other. Both cannot be correct. Never mind the plural gods mentioned.

I might go for Bring Back Dick! That son of a bitch Nixon would have promised us $3000 checks if that was what it took to get him elected. And he would have actually gotten at least $2000 and blamed someone else for the short.

Not getting checks out immediately will be Biden’s and the Dems’ downfall. They have no excuse, and nothng else matters to millions who are unable to pay their bills. Two grand is chump change to these idiots who want to wittle it down even further. The oligarchs in charge are so fucking clueless it’s frightening.

They’re owed, and their needs are considered to be priority ones.

So much underemployment in their ranks, so much money to raise to get their kids into the best schools.
