It dawned on Sierra Moore, 24, who attended the protests carrying a homemade sign that read “No Justice, No Peace,” that she and her grandmother have been protesting the same issues over the course of a century.
She looked at the racially diverse group of thousands, which gathered for a short program on the State House steps before leading a march to the local police station.
Next to her was another sign: “Respect my existence or expect my resistance.”
“I just don’t think that’s how change happens,” Ms. Moore said of voting. “They’ve been telling us to do that for so long — and we’ve done it — and look at everything that’s still going on.”

….”not being Trump is not enough”
Awkwardly put but if the Dems expect me to vote for whomever simply because that person is not Trump then the Dems are totally mistaken. (I think they know this but don’t care*).
If a politician represents my needs-more importantly, the actual needs of the majority of the citizenry, THEN that politician gets my consideration.
Both major parties represent the desires of the highest bidders over the actual needs of majority of the citizenry.
Both major parties for this reason are dead to me.
*(see curent Democratic leadership under Speaker Pelosi for instance).

Same with progressives, young people, suburban women, formerly middle class people slipping into the precariat, Hispanics, all of them.
It is better to vote for what you want and not get it than to vote for what you don't want and get it.--Eugene Debs

“Well who else ya gonna’ vote for?”
They’ve been taking everybody not part of their elitist meritocracy class for granted since the early 90s.

I’d say it would win about 90% of all races.
I don't waste my time teaching pigs to sing.

that would be great! then we could vote for ‘nota’ and send both parties back to select more appealing candidates.
‘a choice, not an echo’ i believe was a right-wing meme back in the 60s? 70s?
it still applies, since the parties are so similar in so many respects.

He already promised us a woman as running mate. I don’t see how he can avoid picking a black woman. If he doesn’t, there will be accusations of betrayal and a huge drop in black voter interest, thereby enabling a Trump victory.

I think Biden, if allowed to make his own decisions, will pick….
Cleopatra is a politically astute woman of color and who is unlikely to say dumb stuff about her and Joe’s history with each other.
Because there were no cameras back then, Biden does not have to fear about the odd photo materializing of him placing his hands/nose/lips in awkward places on Mrs. Cleopatra.
Biden/Cleopatra 2020. (No, not enough to get my vote but I think I could see myself attaching that as a sticker to my car’s back bumper…which is more than I will do for Biden should he pick anyone else including St. Mother Theresa).

If he doesn’t pick Kamala some of the worst members of the Khive will be upset but they don’t make up most people considering how well she did this primary.
Also Warren is the top choice for Hispanic/Latino voters who will be a bigger problem for Biden.

It’s what Bernie was saying for the last 5 years, but too many loyal democrats of all colors didn’t want to hear it, and here we are.
All governments lie to their citizen's, but only Americans believe theirs.

Hollow threat. I don’t believe for one second these protesters won’t immediately vote for Joe Biden and every other establishment Democrat at every chance. The establishment Dems know black Americans will never vote for Trump.
Black Americans had a chance to oust the establishment and try something different back in February. They didn’t do it. They stuck to Biden. So it’s their own bed they made.

I made that decision even before he ran, and it’s the right one, IMO.

Yeah well they could have voted for Bernie, but they chose a white segregationist. Don’t really care at this point. And biden won’t pick a black woman for vice pres. It ain’t happening. Be careful what you wish for and all that.
