Brand New Congress- The Revolution Just Got Bigger!

    * Please spread this around:

    Friend —
If you haven’t already heard, Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks Network and others have launched a new organization called Justice Democrats! Like us, they believe that we have everything we need to rebuild our economy, fix our criminal justice system, guarantee health care and education for all, have a 100% renewable energy economy, and ensure liberty and justice for everyone — not just for the 1%.  And also like us, they believe the main obstacle keeping us from being a truly great country is a Congress that fights for donors, instead of voters.

When Cenk began talking to us about Justice Democrats, we knew immediately that we were on the same team. We both recognize that the Democratic Party is fundamentally broken, and its only hope lies in rebuilding it from scratch and removing the corporate-backed politicians currently running it. We both know that to fix this we need to recruit and run non-career politicians to replace every establishment Congressperson.

So guess what?  We’re teaming up!

This movement has got to be bigger than either Brand New Congress or Justice Democrats alone. The partnership is already amplifying the movement and bringing in a ton of new energy and new supporters.  We are talking about a real political revolution that brings millions of people into the political process and gives everyone a chance to retool our democracy to be one that truly represents the people again.

Justice Democrats will work with us in strongly Democratic districts and states. BNC will continue recruiting in swing and Republican districts. is going to bring our know-how and infrastructure to find and vet hundreds of incredible candidates for Congress and then run a massive, grassroots-fueled campaign. Together, we’ll still be fighting for the same goal that we started with: take back Congress by running a national, unified campaign to elect 400+ non-career politician candidates.

You might be wondering what this means for BNC in Republican areas.  Brand New Congress is dedicated to being a post-partisan group, so while we will be teaming up with Justice Democrats to fight corporate Democrats, we will still be searching out (and have already found!) incredible people in Republican districts who come from a conservative background and believe in our goals and ideals. We will still aim to find the best person to run for Congress in every district who will truly represent that district. And you can donate or volunteer with either organization — and plan to see a lot of joint JD + BNC volunteer teams!

This is the first step toward creating a new political powerhouse in America — one that can go up against both the Democrats and the Republicans, and win! But this time around, we’re going to make it one that is funded and run by the people, not wealthy donors or big corporations. When we all come together, we truly can change our Congress and our country. We hope you will join us.

    In solidarity,

The entire Brand New Congress Team
PS: Our six amazing staffers, who all started as volunteers, are supported entirely by small donations from emails like this one. Please donate $3 or $27 or whatever you can afford right now. Thank you!

    1. I just got the email! Looking good!

Now they just need to be alert for the many predictable attempts to co-opt them. Hint: avoid Brock’s and Bookers!

      3. Yes, I agree, that type is poison and vigilance is essential.

I am totally ok with and expect disagreements but that is a world away from having a snake ( Brock ) part of your organization on any level. Booker is elected, he and the other 12 who voted against the pharma amendment should be on notice, and the hard part is up to us to find and support challengers against them. If Booker and the others change in the mean time,  great, but I would not count on it from most of them.

    2. They need to address election fraud

We saw with our own eyes. Having the best candidate we had for a long time, they cheated every step of the way. Exit polls were way off, people’s status changing, etc. I’m just afraid they will pull all these tricks and we will keep saying “oh that was so close” . Until this is addressed, they will continue.

    6. I was completely behind Brand New Congress (the organization)

I was completely behind Brand New Congress (the organization) in the beginning and still think the idea of total turnover of congress to a complete slate of progressives who have never been elected to office before is a great idea.

However, the amount of “purple” on their website now makes me wonder if it’s just another Soros funded astroturf group or it’s been co-opted.  It may not have started out that way, but their website look has changed drastically (this is a recent change) and the “chosen revolution color” is now covering their entire site.

Not writing it off entirely, but am just watching cautiously.

      7. It's always wise to be cautious, I share your opinion on that score no matter

what the organization. Policy should be the driving force, so we’ll see.
