The disturbing breach of security at the U.S. Capitol is raising serious questions about the safety of lawmakers and staff who work there, and drawing criticism toward the security services who are meant to keep them safe.

Images of a mob scaling walls, breaking down fences, and storming the seat of the country’s Democracy have led to criticism that the Capitol Police should have been better prepared for the possible assault.

“What the hell was law enforcement on Capitol Hill thinking by not having secured the Capitol today?” former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta asked on CNBC, calling it one of his great disappointments.

      (skip)

“Everybody knew that there would be a disturbance, everybody knew that there would be people who were interested in doing nothing but creating havoc in the Capitol, and very frankly it was the responsibility of the law enforcement and the Capitol Hill Police to secure the Capitol,” Panetta said.

      Hi ob,

Per the shock doctrine outlined by author Naomi Kline, we can expect TPTB to use January 6th, 2021 as a justification for more authoritarianism and state control.  And based on Biden/Harris history to date, that team will waste no time exerting all the tools of state violence to squash dissent.  And sadly, the “Botique Left” will cheer them on.

And I’m sure Biden/Harris will ramp up security for themselves and their corrupt allies in Washington, and crack down even harder on dissent if they think they can get away with it, while liberals cheer them on and call the real left anarchists and terrorists, lumping BLM in with Trumpers and others, and call the breaking of windows “violence,” which it is not.

These Trumpers had no idea of what to do once they got in the Capitol. Many wondered around like tourists and took selfies, like that guy at Pelosi’s desk. I saw one guy looting a podium, but there was no pillaging or arson. What’s a good riot without pillaging and arson? Or burning down a police station? Why didn’t they start fires? And they didn’t fight too much when the cops finally showed up in force. Most just went home after Trump told them to.

Friggin’ amateurs. I guess they thought Trump would show up and declare himself President-for-Life or something, and didn’t know WTF to do without him there to direct them. And he’s too much of a coward to risk his own precious orange ass.

The poor Congresscritters brought it on themselves by denying $2000 stimulus payments and using the whole pandemic to transfer even more money to the most wealthy.

In every successful revolution, when the angry mob encounters the protectors of the oppressors, the protectors suddenly find something else to do.

Would these people have shown up if they’d just gotten $2000, or if they’d been getting that amount every month since April? No they wouldn’t, because of two big reasons. One, they wouldn’t have been nearly as angry, and Two, Trump would have been re-elected.

You are correct. Hey Biden it is not going to work if all you have to offer is more of the same old Clinton/Obama methods and it looks like that is what the cabinet is set up for. You saw the progressives in action in line and at the post office to vote in some of the biggest numbers ever and now you have seen the anger of the tRump supporters.

When you think about what you want to accomplish in the next four years you and Kamala had better forget you centrism and figure out why so many people in America are fed up with what has been happening for the last 40 years. You can start by listening to the people that used to believe in the D party. And above all you can study the plans of FDR and talk to Bernie. Doing nothing is not going to work.

Our politicians are merely acting out what the filthy rich told them to do.

From the Koch Bros to the Gates. From the drunken Wal-Mart heirs to the belligerent Google sultans, they orchestrated this.

Those fools who attacked a democratic symbol of our country were trying to put Trump in as dictator for life. Why? Trump is a smelly, incontinent, ugly, bald, fat stupid man. He is a stinky heap of slovenly hate. Why would anyone want him to represent them?

Because the filthy rich got even more rich during a pandemic that killed over half a million Americans. They want Trump to continue to give them our tax dollars for doing nothing. Notice we only got back but a token of the taxes we pay to the federal government. But the filthy rich get all their taxes back and rebates too. Follow the money. Who is getting rich off this are the ones who did it to us.

Those fools who followed Trump’s orders to attack the legislative chambers of our democracy were doing what the filthy rich, most of the federal government, the police and National Guard wanted and expected them to do.

From the cops who posed with the rioters and led them to the chambers, to the National Guard who refused to assist in stopping them, to the military who claimed hands off only when Trump goons riot, to the GOP Senators and reps who tried to stop the certification of a free and mostly fair election, they all knew this was coming and they all did nothing.

No, it is not Biden or Harris or Pence or Mitch or OC who are hurting us. It is Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffet, Mark Zuckerberg, Alice Walton, Elon Musk, Charles Koch and every filthy rich capitalist who are hurting us. The politician are merely front men. It is the filthy rich capitalist kings who really are orchestrating our suffering. It is what capitalism, like feudalism, does. It takes from the poor and middle class and gives to the filthy rich.

Stop blaming the puppets for the bad show and blame the puppet masters.

Always the most difficult thing to parse. However, I saw no National Guard troops anywhere around the Capitol while this was going on. They didn’t let anyone in. They definitely didn’t refuse to assist the police. That’s a flatout falsehood. Perhaps some Capitol Police did, but they were definitely undermanned considering they should have known this could happen.

And Nazis? Really? I saw some Confederate flags, and some American ones, and Trump flags, but that doesn’t make all of them Nazis. Trump himself is no Nazi. That’s always been hyperbolic bullshit, IMO.

And the congresscritters are the ones responsible for doing the bidding of the filthy rich. They are culpable, and they richly deserved to have the shit scared out of them. I have no sympathy whatsoever for any of them. They are every bit as responsible as Zuckerberg and Bezos.

As far as attacking the legislative chambers of our democracy, it is impossible to attack a thing that does not exist.

It was NOT filled with innuendos and falsehoods. It was filled with facts and maybe anger. But I tried my best to stick to the facts.

Not sure if you think the National Guard assisted with the removal of the rioters from the chambers or not. But there is No video of National Guard doing anything until after the rioters were removed.

It has since come out that it wasn’t until Pence got out of his safe place in the capitol that anyone authorized the National Guard, which was well after the rioters were removed from the building.

The Capitol police should not have been undermanned. It’s not like Trump rallies are quiet and unruly. And Trump has been inciting his followers at every turn. Anyone with half a brain was predicting something like this from Trump. There is no excuse for the Capitol police to have been unprepared. And were all those videos of police assisting rioters fake? What about the cops who moved the barricades, escorted Nazi promoting rioters to the chambers and took selfies with rioters?

Trump is a Nazi lover plain and simple. His racist father never fought in WWII. He thinks those soldiers who died fighting Hitler and his Nazis are losers and suckers. He has tweeted pro Nazi videos and sayings. And Trump stroked the Nazis who marched at Charlottsville by calling them very fine people. Yes, all Trump supporters are Not Nazis but a lot of Nazis are Trump supporters. And there were Nazi sweatshirts and what appeared to be Nazi salutes at the riot. There were nooses, Confederate flags and white supremacists’ hand signals. Why would all the other white supremacists have come to the riot but not include the Nazis?

I agree congress critters are as much to blame as the filthy rich. But take away one filthy rich supporting congressman and another one pops up in his place. You have to get to the root of the problem and that is capitalism and the filthy rich.

Legislation may not be happening in those chambers today but it use to, for short amazing periods of history. So basically they represent what could be again.

And it hurt my heart and made me angry to see those places trashed and defiled by a group of gullable white supremacists trying to enthrone a King Trump. It’s not the presidents that made this country great. It was the democracy. And sometimes that happened in those now trashed chambers.

sent the mob on its way to the capitol) not to have armed riot police on the steps of the capitol (as they did during BLM protests) and other enhanced security measures? Whose decision was that?

One thing we do know now is that the DC Police cannot come onto federal property unless they are invited by one of several officials in the federal government. Nobody called them until after the mob had broken into the Capitol. We know the Washington cops were standing by and ready to go, but we don’t know why it took so long for somebody to call them.

So it was either because someone responsible wanted the mob to break in, or incompetence on the part of several federal people, or both.

Sorry, but that is hilarious.  That should be “the seat of fucking us over whilst kissing corporate and military ass”.

Also – I would not expect anyone to put themselves in danger protecting a Congress that so blatantly does not give a flying fuck about them.  Don’t care if I am alone about that.   I do doubt that Congress is thinking about being scared, and why this happened, probably just thinking about revenge and also how they can use this to fuck us over even more.
