Catholic politicians have to get a pass on infidelity due to the precedent set for the Kennedys, who now that I think about it might have arranged for some abortions. So the story of Jill’s first husband is moot.
Though some older Catholics are still in awe of how Joseph P. Kennedy II got the church to annul his marriage to his wife, who bore him children who were baptized and raised in the church. His new fiance wanted a Church wedding, so Kennedy got the Church to rule that his current marriage was never a real one. That’s what an annulment is, basically. Kennedy’s defense was that it was a sham marriage from the start, as he never meant to stay faithful.
Wow, that’s balls, and that’s power.
The annulment was later overturned, maybe because Rome wanted to remind the Boston Diocese of its place.
Let’s see how much juice Biden has, relative to the Church which is on the ropes. We might think that they couldn’t afford a feud with Biden, but it could be the case that their base, the one that kicks in cash and attends mass, ain’t playing games in regard this church tenet.
