• Update on weirdness

Update on site issues: (1. replies now need a title *and* something in the message box, 2. certain links are causing strange pop-ups on Apple devices, and 3. Some folks can't type anything into the text box.) Basically, a series of unfortunate events set us back on testing. We'll get to it as soon as we can, and hopefully things can get fixed by this weekend if not before.  More info: https://jackpineradicals.com/boards/topic/site-problems-more-info/

Climate Hawks Vote list of endorsed progressive candidates

Climate Hawks Vote list of candidates

Climate Hawks Vote does not endorse Clinton or Trump. Like JackpineRadicals, they are dedicated to ending climate change and endorse progressives across the country.

An email from one of the leaders at Climate Hawk Votes was among the leaked Podesta emails. He told Podesta how disappointed he was in Podesta putting his name on a bunch of screen shots instead of actual policy regarding climate change.

Podesta responded in part: “What offended me was that Bernie pissed all over Obama’s extensive diplomacy that led to a hopeful outcome in Paris. It’s easy to promise the moon. It’s a lot harder to deliver.”

    From Climate Hawks Vote

What we consider in issuing endorsements: First and foremost, a candidate’s public statements regarding climate change. Do you mention specific climate change action in your stump speech? Did you show up at a People’s Climate March? Do you have a thoughtful statement on your website? We also look at viability, although we will back longshots when we find a compelling reason to do so.

We do not endorse mediocre Democrats, no matter how vehemently a Republican opponent may deny climate science. We only endorse when we are convinced that the candidate will commit to strong climate action in Congress.

    We like primaries.

Climate Hawks Vote does not accept contributions from fossil-fuel corporations, executives, or lobbyists. We are a federal Super PAC, which means that we are an independent expenditure committee and can’t endorse in state/local races. We do network with others on the lookout for climate hawks who can think globally and lead locally.

    Climate Hawks Vote Endorsements

On edit my apologies to Climate Hawks Vote. Got the name wrong at first

    3. Great organization.

Check out their list of endorsements, help those candidates, especially if you are in their districts.

      4. Thank you!

There are a few in California. But I’m not positive any are in my district. I’m checking that tonight when I go over the propositions

      Thanks again

    7. Will keep my eye on this group

I haven’t heard of them before, but they seem to have their heads in the right place.

Well feels like forever. Forever started April 2015, right?

      Thank you Manny

    9. This is nice, when so many "progressive" endorsements

    fail the smell test now.

I can’t vote for any of the endorsees, which is no surprise, but it’s good to know there are still some actual progressive groups out there.

      10. Thanks.

I can’t either. Not in my state or district.

But this is a great group to follow

    11. thanks

Sheldon Whitehouse isn’t running this time, but he constantly advocates for climate change efforts and then voted as a superdelegate for the fracking offshore drilling TPP Queen.

      12. Same with Eric Swalwell

He is running again. And not on this list.

They’re pretty thorough in investigating the candidates.

If we don’t get money out of elections and politics nothing will ever change.

    13. boo

I signed up for their email list.  But in my area they recommend voting for Clinton, fan of fracking and the TPP, and Langevin who is a Clinton superdelegate and is opposed by a genuine environmentalist and Berniecrat Jeffrey Johnson.  They do not recommend Jill Stein.  Boo.

      14. That's weird.

I was specifically told they’re not endorsing either major candidate. And I’ve never received anything from them endorsing Clinton or anyone who back fracking or is backed by big oil.

I wonder if the local levels don’t always follow the national.

      Sorry about that. Very odd

        15. endorsements

I got a mass email from them a day or so ago with a link to a suggestion website.  For my area see below.  Oh wait, I can’t upload an image.  www.pollvault.com/polls/matrix Rhode Island in my area results Representative District 2.  If you hover over the thing next to Clinton, it says Climate Hawks vote.  Maybe worse is they do not endorse Jeff Johnson, a Berniecrat, opposed to the Libyan war (which his opponent Langevin voted for), environmentalist, etc.

          16. Can you give me a zip code?

Pm me if you don’t want to put it here. It isn’t showing me anything until I enter one.

This is really strange. This isn’t their website so I’m wondering if it’s not really who they endorse. Their endorsements for the country are in the link on my OP.

          Thank you
