It’s long and here’s what it amounts to:  Abramson has identified around 6-8 people (insiders, plus trump) plus the proud boys. Their goal was to put off the ballot counting so that trump could start a new round of litigation over what the Constitution says about timing, thus further delaying the start of Biden’s presidency.

Of course true to form, they were Keystone Cops. It’s a long read (warning), but it’s arranged in short bits.

Like Trump did. None of them ever come out and say kill or hang them but they do say stop them. They say delay the vote certification to prevent Biden from taking office so Trump can come up with a newer (more magical?) way to challenge the vote count with the Supremes.

I guess the worse they get is “take names and kick ass”. But it is so clear they want them to storm the chambers of congress.

If anyone has had experiences with narcissists they are really good at implication and manipulation without coming out and saying what they really want you to do. Their speeches on 6 Jan were very much like that but more direct.

It’s clear they are directing the crowd to stop the vote certification.

According to CNN the proud boys, or as I like to call them the pouty babies, require an act of violence from their members to join. So, they are a Nazi group that likes to use violence. How special that the Trumps invited them to stop the certification on Jan 6th.

This was better planned then what our politicians are claiming. It was Not a mob that got out of hand. It was a mob doing what Trump directed. Trump and Giuliani were even calling and trying to direct willing co-conspirators in congress.

It’s when you leave a narcissist that he becomes the most dangerous.

I think that stochastic terrorism has been part of mainstream Republicans repetoire of action for a long time and has resulted in violence against their political opponents, and is probably intended to instill fear in them.  It is difficult to determine how effective this has been at shaping political outcomes, but surely it has had some impact.   This is usually done with enough care that those who are fomenting violence can escape any responsibility and the actors who engage in violence are the only ones held accountable.

This is different.  It apparent that this was planned for a long time and orchestrated with multiple parties.  For one, there were caravans with multiple busloads of Trumpers holding rallies all across the country as they travelled from diffeent parts of the country.  This has the result of making it look like there were more angry Trumers than there really are, as the same people were protesting in a number of cities; this also gave them a period of time when they were surrounded by other cultists, working up their anger, and solidifying there belief in conspiracies.  When they got to they DC, there was a parking lot outside of town for busses to park and shuttle busses to take them to their hotels and rallies.  A lot of the transportation and organizational costs (and possibly hotel bills?) were assumed by a PAC formed in October so that there is no financial data yet available about their donors or exact expenses. .  I’ve never been to a protest that was so easy to get to and participate end.

Then, too, there were meetings with Proud Boys and probably other groups, presumeably to coordinate.   Trump is reported to have supported a national guard and other federal police presence to protect protesters from counterprotestors.  This suggests that he assumed that most would be on the side of protestors; this would explain his remarks at the rally, when he encouraged the police to join the protestors.   And his purging of leaders at DOD and DOJ is evidence of advance planning to keep forces at bay while the insurrection went forward.

It is possible that he was simply hoping that a loud protest outside of the capitol would intimidate Senators into rejecting the electoral college.  But he clearly wasn’t bothered by the violence.  I don’t believe for a minute that we should take his phone calls to senators at face value.  He may have wanted them to delay the proceedings, but we have to ask why.  Was it to give insurrectionists more time to accomplish their goals, whatever those were?   The most innocent explanation is that this was stochastic terrorism, but it may well have been more directed.  There also appears to have been collusion from congress critters and insurrectionists.

I’ll give THE Repubs this: they’re good at organizing and frothing up their mobs of supporters. This made me think of how they organized the Monica Lewinski trial and descended on Arkansas. Thousands of them.

First, Giuliani needs to be disbarred!

Manafort and Stone need to be arrested.

And every member of Congress involved with this needs to be removed from Congress, arrested and charged with sedition.

That timeline is incredible! Except that white on black hurt my eyes. 😉

      Thanks for posting it.

that’s called “dark-mode” and is what most kids and millennials use these days online. I’ve seen plenty who say that “Black text on white background” hurts their eyes. It’s also why you’ll see many of them preferring to work at a computer monitor in the dark. I suspect that the older you get (like me) that the brighter you want things like text and room lighting (as I type this in a well-lit room with the site one a white background) : )

White on black is not the norm, so people seem to have a problem with that. People have problems with anything different, or new.
I’m “older”, but I do not have a problem with this either way. I just deal with it. It never occurred to me to complain. It is just a post in a thread on a web site. So what?

We are an arrogant species, believing our fantasy based "facts" are better than the other person's fake facts.
If you are wrong, it will be because you are not cynical enough.

for pretty much most of my online chatting. Last April 1st, they decided it would be a great prank to switch the entire app to “night-mode” with no option to switch it back. I complained. I wasn’t the only one complaining either as they issued an apology before the day was halfway over and gave us the option of “day-mode” again.

I’m almost 60 years of age and white font on black background gives me eyestrain almost immediately. I’ve never been able to work at a computer monitor with the lights out, yet too many ‘fellow’ co-workers liked it that way. At least most phones and computer apps let you set it either way. The screenshots above were taken by someone with their phone set to dark-mode. Another set could always be made with the phone/computer set to light-mode, and then there would be no complaints about trying to read it : )

of the Capitol? Seems to me that question is carefully avoided or

answered with lame excuses. All this organizing would have failed

if the same protection had been given as it was against BLM marches.

Thus this event was permitted to take place, instead of avoided.

        @sadoldgirl

All I can say is, if I wanted this kind of protest to unfold the way it did last week, my policing would probably have looked a lot the same.

The phrase “Cui bono?” will rarely show in the msm lexicon, but you’d think progressives would be kind of familiar with it by now.

the exact point at which I stopped reading. No need to go any further in my experience.

Abramson’s a conspiracy theorist; in the long run this will be both more and less than it appears, like everything else involving the Diarrhea Golem

“Stop the Steal” was a name developed by Stone, therefore this whole thing must have been a fraud.

A little research shows that Stone did indeed come up with that name (and website), back in 2016 as a potential reaction to the dems then. (But who knew then they’d spend the next 4 years trying to steal it retroactively?)

And the “250 major media reports” is of course ad populum. Especially since we know easily 90% of that is going to be simple regurgitation.

An actual logic student could probably have a field day with this fool.

Mo was one of the mask scoffers when the congresspeople were taken to the ‘special room’

“Today is the day American patriots start taking down names and kicking ass….Now our ancestors sacrificed their blood, their sweat, their tears, their fortunes and sometimes their lives to give us—their descendants—an America that is the greatest nation in the world’s history.  So I have a question for you: Are you willing to do the same?”

too.  No one who actually does their homework could believe that.

Partisans in general, have a highly subjective view of things. Russiagaters have no credibility whatsoever, IMO. They knowingly promote lies and truly absurd conspiracy theories.
