David Koch, the billionaire industrialist who, along with his brother Charles, helped fund a vast conservative and libertarian political operation, died on Friday, according to the journalist Jane Mayer, citing family sources. CBS confirmed his death. He was 79 years old.
As two of the 10 wealthiest Americans, David and Charles Koch used their riches to help fund and advance their conservative and libertarian political beliefs. They helped found the Cato Institute, a libertarian think tank, the Reason Foundation, which publishes a libertarian magazine, and a series of political organizations, including Americans for Prosperity. Koch left the board of Americans for Prosperity last year, citing health reasons.

Are there later generations of Kochs we need to worry about? (Like the endless Bushes)

In 1996, he married Julia Flesher, of Little Rock, Arkansas, then a 27-year-old assistant to the dress designer Adolpho and a socialite on the Upper East Side. He is survived by his wife and his three children, Mary, David Jr. and John.

@pam2 Unfortunately there is another generation of Kochs coming up the pipeline. I have not heard they follow in the daddies’ footsteps, though.

That’s what I meant- will they take over the business and do the same things. If they want to just lounge on the Riviera I don’t care. I guess we might have to wait for the other brother to die before the next gen takes over.

Since Grave Dancing isn’t allowed, I will just hope that Mr. Koch receives whatever Judgement there is after death. because he sure didn’t while alive.

I see this as the question of the century….
Are we going to let the 1% or 0.1% continue the legacy of the Koch Brothers? This sure is the question. And the answer is IMO, we have to stop what they do by force if necessary. Not with violence, but by every one of us standing up to how they have controlled both parties, which represent them.
Hell, no... I'm not giving up...

Well, right now he’s filling out the standard 666 page immigration paperwork like everybody does when they get here. After that though, we’re looking at a fun weekend. Think I might boil him for a while in some of his own toxic chemicals.

I, for one, am a bit sad he passed before the 2020 election. It would have been a tiny bit wonderful if he got to see all the money and effort he put forth wasted; brought to ruin by the election of Bernie Sanders as President and the progressive wave overwhelming congress riding his coattails.
