DCCC continues to lose. Eastman beats Ashford
Brad Ashford, former Republican state legislature who was recruited by the DCCC to run for the 2nd District House was beaten in a very close race by Kara Eastman, who ran on a $15 dollar an hour, single payer platform. The Justice Democrats and Progressive Change Committee endorsed her, though Our Revolution did not, probably because she backed Hillary in 2016.
Ashford, 68, was the anointed candidate of the national party, with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee throwing its support behind him.
Ashford is a longtime state legislator who has had a hand in a variety of institutions, including the CenturyLink Center and the Omaha Housing Authority.
He’s a former Republican who’s bounced back and forth between parties several times. And he often says he embraces progressive causes but thinks compromise is the best way to get things done.
While Ashford pitched himself as a moderate voice of bipartisan cooperation, Eastman, 46, touted her status as the only lifelong Democrat in the race and took a harder line on the issues.
The DCCC sellouts are taking a pounding. Hopefully, Eastman is the real deal and not a Clinton lackey in disguise. She sounds like the real deal. She runs a nonprofit called the Omaha Healthy Kids Alliance. Can’t see $Hillary doing something like that. She’d just ship kids off to Honduras to be killed.
Come next election cycle, I wouldn’t be surprised to see candidates avoid the DCCC like the plague. Their “annointed” ones are going down like flies.Half Century Man, cui bono, 3FingerBrown and 17 otherseridani, LongTomH, Pastiche, Baba OhReally, closeupready, disillusioned73, SandersDem, PennLawyer, Bearian, mmonk, Gryneos, Peace Patriot, ZimInSeattle, Iwalani88, Ejbr, jwirr, daleanime like this
Think of all the “moderates” who, throughout history, have failed to oppose state-sanctioned aggression, oppression, and abuse, from slavery to child labor, while maligning those who call for change as dangerous and misguided, violent radicals. And yet, in retrospect, when a renewed social contract is established as the new normal, the unlawful actions that brought about these societal shifts are turned into mythical tales of nationalistic heroism and dates for kids to memorize at school.https://limitedhangoutblog.com/2017/02/08/lets-talk-about-violence/
