House Democrats are furious that an incoming freshman’s expletive-riddled statement about impeaching Donald Trump has suddenly upended their carefully crafted rhetoric on their plans to take on the president.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other top Democrats have long argued that impeachment is a last resort that would come at the end of exhaustive oversight and investigations. But on the second day of the new Congress, the news was jammed with talk of Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, who told a crowd of progressive activists Thursday night that “we’re gonna impeach the motherf—er.”
Rank-and-file Democrats, immediately fearful of the damage the comment could cause, unloaded on their new colleague Friday morning. Republicans, they argued, would hold it up as proof that Democrats were playing politics rather than pursuing genuine oversight of the president — even if the GOP never showed interest in investigating Trump scandals while they were in power.
“Mueller hasn’t even produced his report yet!” said Rep. Ron Kind (D-Wis.), referring to special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe. “People should cool their jets a little bit, let the prosecutors do their job and finish the investigation.”

I’m glad she said it. Somebody needs to remind these idiots what the folks who voted for them want.

Carefully crafted? Don’t make me laugh. It will be interesting if it becomes the Usual Business the neo-libs are so familiar with.
Be you. Don’t be robots like the DNC/RNC folks…you want to impeach the moterfuker, have at it! I want to see Muller finally come out with some kind of pronouncement. We are all waiting.
EDIT- sorry this post was supposed to be at the bottom of the thread, I seem to be having an issue with it posting to random posters in the thread.

As much as I would like to see Trump gone, I think impeachment is a waste of time and energy. Not to mention we would get Pence if he were to be removed. And the once Pence is an incumbent….

So if they just drop the idea they are no better than the Repubs, who kept their base riled up with the idea of Jailing Hillary and Impeaching Obama.
Perhaps they should try listening to their base and understanding what they want/need , for a change.

Plus since Clinton and Dubya didn’t get removed from office, why would Trump? That is if all crime is equal in the eyes of the law.

..that is actually impeachable? It’s supposed to be for crimes while in office right?

regardless, it DOESN’T MATTER how neoliberal dems feel about Rep. Tlaib’s language. She doesn’t ANSWER to them. They do NOT MATTER.

it should not be the ‘appetizer’ either.
Focus on progressive legislation – even though it will be ignored by the Senate and/or vetoed by Trump. That is what you were elected to do. Prove that you understand that.
If, at some point, continuing investigation (Mueller, journalists, House committees) turn up impeachable offences then put impeachment ‘on the table’. By then I hope these young progressives have a legislative record to be proud of.

National issues (slavery/racism, income inequality, pandemics and pathetic health care, weak unions) are not solved with more states' rights. Global problems (climate change, migration, trade, war, pandemics) are not solved with more nationalism.

We need more people who have more passion. It seems the others just want to exist and amount to nothing but a pile. I like that the new Dems are giving the old ones heartburn! The ones that aren’t should be voted out of their jobs already and that goes for the ones that were just elected. Get rid of them and on to the next so called progressive.

I must have read this sentence, or a variation of it, a thousand times over the last 30 years from cowardly, corporate Third Way, suck a$$, capitulating democrats every time someone outside their scared-of-Fox News cocoon, rightly mocks the republicans with any kind of harsh language. We must rise above them! When they go low, we go high! We need more civility and bi-partisanship! Rank and file democrats…barf

I’m not quite sure exactly what is to be so excited about. There is a slim Democratic majority in the House, a pro-Trump Senate, and a judiciary that is about to be even more conservative over the next couple years. Meanwhile we have a government in shutdown mode and a heavily politically-divided population.
Stop dancing. Stop cheering. Stop making stupid comments. Getting into an insult war with Donald Trump is not going to work. That kind of dirty politics plays right into his hands. His base feeds off it.
Screw up these next two years and Trump will be re-elected. And don’t dare think it can’t happen. This party has screwed up before.

How many times did that Orange Imbecile use “profanity” – including “motherfu.c.k.er” on the campaign trail??
