about politics since im still avoiding most people. I feel that there are now three different political parties, even if those in it have not adopted the names yet. You have Republicans, Centrists, and Progressives. The republicans have gone facist, and are in the process of purging the party of remaining centrists like romney, collins, and cassidy. The democratic party is now center-right, no longer a liberal party. The liberal party is now the progressives. Sometimes is doesnt always seem like it, but folks like AOC, Sanders, Porter ect are progressives. They just need to utilize their power and figure out how to successfully bargain with centrists to get what they want, we want. I think a problem that has popped up is that “democrats” and “republicans” have always bargained to make policy. Those days are over. Politicians, mainly progressives, now have to have a 3 party mindset, and move into a new era. They have to convince centrists that the facist republicans are not the group to embrace, and move in the direction of. Yes, AOC and Bernie make some really stupid decisions sometimes, but they really do want to make the people top priority. Politics are just really bizzare and screwed up right now and I think progressives are just trying to figure out how to get back to doing the peoples business effectively

Just that we have work to do. We have to support progressives when its called for and point out stupid decisions when they are brought to attention. Physically call these folks and let them know how you feel, even if they dont represent your area! Progressives can be steered in the right direction because at the core of their beliefs, they are there to fight for us. The centrists fight for their donors, and the republicans have lost their damn minds. Its up to progressives to get the ship back on the right heading. Also that the symbols(D)and(R) are pretty much meaningless anymore. It doesn’t automatically imply a political stance. Progressives have to cut deals with the centrists. And doing that, progressives might have to concede on a few things (at least for now 😉)

you are correct about there being three main factions. However, the Democratic Party will not allow that narrative to go viral. In fact, the Democrapic Party treats progressives as if we were a red-headed step-child that they keep locked in the basement. If you think for a moment that the Centrists will find it easier to side with us than they would with the Re-publiscum Party, you have another think coming. The neoliberal vichy Dems have already tipped their hand by stealing the primary from Bernie twice: their corporate masters WILL shall be done, come hell or high water!

My hope for a legislative solution is essentially dead. I’d love to be wrong on that. Sadly, I’m not.

But not much. My mind keeps going back to a debate Robert Reich had with Nina Turner on her podcast about progressives convincing Democrats to do the right thing. He said “all politicians love to lead a parade. If progressives can make their parade big enough, Biden and the centrists will jump in front of it”
Progressives have to be noisy enough that the dems cant hide them in the basement anymore. To do that, progressive politicians need prodded. Call them and email them. Keep them on the right path and hopefully this little progressive group will get bigger.
