The Blue Wave that won the House back for the Democratic Party was fueled by the Progressive Wing of the Party. The Establishment Dems point out that most of the elected Dems are not Progressive, but let me point out that the Establishment gets no credit for this change as they relied on the same strategy that lost the Party over 1,000 Dem seats across the country.
What was different this year was the enthusiasm and activeness of the Progressive Wing. We not only pushed for the election of progressive Dems, we also campaigned for all Democrats to vote. While the number of progressives that won new seats wasn’t as many as those backed by the Establishment, those elected like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ayanna Pressley, and even some that were defeated like Stacy Abrams, Andrew Gillum, and Abdul El-Sayed, made themselves known. These outspoken progressives made it difficult for the Corp-Media to ignore them completely, and they spoke to real issues that the Establishment won’t touch, like health care for all, a livable min wage, ending the slavery of private prisons, etc.
The Progressive Wing of the Democratic Party hasnt won the war against the Corp-Backed Establishment, but they’ve let the Establishment know that they are in for a fight. Before 2016, Sen Sanders was just about the only progressive that the country knew. Today there are a number of progressives that are standing up and standing out.
To win in 2020 the Democratic Party must abandon the Establishment’s failed strategy of “We ain’t as bad as them” and speak to issues that resonate with the People. We must shun the Big Money Corp-Donations that always come with provisions attached.

Here is a great article from The Nation Magazine about the lessons to be learned from the midterm election:

to cast for the lesser of two evils and then claim that centrism is what the voters want.

All governments lie to their citizen's, but only Americans believe theirs.
