(WSWS) Two reporters for the Washington Post witnessed Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a fascist acolyte of former President Donald Trump, accosting New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez outside the House of Representatives late Wednesday afternoon.

      (skip)

The Post reported that the altercation began with Greene shouting “Hey Alexandria” twice. After Ocasio-Cortez did not respond, Greene quickened her pace and began to berate Ocasio-Cortez, inquiring about her alleged support of antifa and Black Lives Matter while accusing the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) member of failing to defend her “radical socialist” perspective by agreeing to a debate with Greene.

“You don’t care about the American people,” Greene yelled, the Post reported. “Why do you support terrorists and antifa?”

The Post reported that Ocasio-Cortez did not stop to respond to Greene, writing that she only turned, “around once” and threw her “hands in the air in an exasperated motion.” After Ocasio-Cortez walked away, Greene turned to a small group of reporters and called Ocasio-Cortez a “coward” and “pathetic.”

But since both the Republican and Democratic Leadership can both play this for all it is worth, the contest will go on.

Congress has a history of physical attacks on members with no real ramifications for the person who committed the assault. During the run-up to the Civil War, one Congress Member was beaten within an inch of his life. The verdict of the member who did the assault was the words of the offending Congressperson justified the beating. Now here on this day, history does not repeat itself, but it sure does rhyme.

Expect the made for T.V. show to go on.

As is explained in the first two minutes of this video:

But one place where it falls flat on its face is the opening music of Richard Wagner, The Valkyrie. In the video, it is presented that the only way of dealing with people you do not agree with is by removing them from society and not hearing from them. So why play the music of Wagner who was an unabashed anti-Semitic, perhaps even a racist or was he? This is the first contradiction in the video.

Another point made in the video is public speakers at college, university or on the street whose views are controversial. Well, you certainly do not make your point by punching some guy in the face. You can make an argument that overall, far right wing ideological movements and white supremacy are violent in nature which do not benefit society as a whole. Another tactic is, since most college/university appearances include some sort of monetary compensation from the institution, then you need to cut the funding for this event. Another is by having a better argument.

I have made a couple of threads of how the issue of race and other issues uses the wrong argument. Instead of focusing on the benefits to society as a whole, the arguments are used spotlighting the benefits of a single demographic. This type of presentation does not work out well in the long run. The article presented in the original post discusses the single demographics, as does the leadership in Congress, as does the media. All we are seeing in this spectacle is a bad WWF daytime programming of actors pretending they are standing for something. So this confrontation is meant to go on and on Ad nauseam, for in my opinion, the free advertising.

As for my definition of, “Polite Society”: people who value good manners

by continuing to believe in arguing with them. You’re allowing them to speak and the act of speaking is what they’re after, not the argument itself. You fail to understand this and by engaging them, you allow them to achieve their goal. This is why the only accepted solution by most philosophical thought is to simply punch them in the face and END all conversation with them thusly.

–yep.  and thereby give more free publicity to people like greene.

Better to do what the ptb do to the left, which is, ignore them whenever possible, give no publicity (like with bernie’s campaign).

When not possible, treat them as crazies, unamerican, delusional, etc.  Ridicule.

If that fails, psy-ops, set them up with drugs, guns, whatever ya got.

There’s no making ‘better arguments’ with people like greene, because they are not about arguments, they are about winning by fair means or foul, & they have some kind of $$ backing behind them as well.  They don’t give a damn about arguments, they will lie outright, they will manufacture bullshit, they will pull the Roger Stone tricks on others to make them look bad.

And they’re fucking fascists who would just as soon kill people like you & I if they could get away with it.

To be fair to him, he was making triumphalist music for the new German nationalism, as materialized by the German Empire under the Kaisers. It really was a different animal from Nazi Germany, and I admit to liking some of Wagner’s stuff, particularly the Ride of the Valkyries. I think it’s good music, but that’s a matter of taste.

Just because the Nazis adopted it doesn’t mean I am required to hate it.

Back in the early 1970s, I was in a school concert band which we were presented with a Richard Wagner piece. There was a fuss about Wagner being anti-Semitic and a racist, so in short, the piece was pulled. So being a curious kid I went to the library and read up on Wagner. He was not calling for the expulsion or the extermination, mostly Wagner was complaining about not getting paid and using words of the words of the time to make his complaint. So I was not happy about having the piece pulled on those grounds. But this is not the point.

My original point was our two party system was going to play this conflict for a fundraising drive. More to the point, the leadership does care if there is harm in this process and will pass it off as collateral damage. To make this point clearer, I believe our leadership in this country are rude and do not deserve the positions they hold.

Concerning the video, I do not know about everyone else, but I watched it from beginning to end. The big takeaway is the video advocates for violence. That to fix our societal problems we need to punch people in the face. Please stop here and take that in for a moment. Then it is full of contradictions, some have been already explained. So in conclusion, the video is plain fucking bullshit.

Two saying come to mind; Never argue with a fool; onlookers may not be able to tell the difference.

And:  Never wrestle with a pig. You just get dirty and the pig enjoys it.

Both have been credited to Mark Twain among others so not able to positively cite either saying.

I would however, if I were AOC, tell Greene to send me a copy of her alternative to the Green New Deal and then maybe we could debate.  That would probably shut her up.

      Fellow Patriot,

Everyone be careful, AOC has been triggered. I tried to talk to her the other day, and she literally ran away, and then called the police on me.

According to AOC, who champions the defund movement, Congress isn’t a “safe space,” so a five-foot two-inch woman is scary when she asks you a few questions:

      Why do you hate America?
      Why do you support Antifa?
Why do you support Hamas terrorists?
When are you going to debate me on your Green New Deal proposals?
Now her friend Nancy Pelosi wants me referred to the House Ethics Committee! All for the crime of asking a few questions. Is this still America!?!

I need your help to fight back! Will you make your most generous donation of $25, $50 or $100, and help me fend off the radical left attack machine here in Congress?

I’m not Liz Cheney or Mitch McConnell.

I wasn’t sent here by the people of Georgia’s 14th District to hold hands and sip tea – I was sent here to fight for our liberty and to stop the slide towards socialism.

I’m here to stop the radical left from destroying our nation and I’m going to confront them on why they have such divergent ideas. I’m quite certain the American people want us discussing ideas, not coddling up to illegal aliens or Hamas terrorists killing innocent children in Israel.

Any Member of Congress who is siding with terrorists over our friends in Israel is literally committing treason. What’s Pelosi doing about that?

I need your help to fight AOC and the radical leftists in Congress! Please donate $50 or more and help me hold them accountable for trying to destroy our nation!

That’s right – the same woman who wants to take away your right to own a gun, and defund the police in your neighborhood, needs armed security and the entire House Ethics Committee to protect her from people asking her questions she doesn’t like.

This is what Democrats do when you try to hold them accountable – they hide behind armed guards and call you a racist. They are hypocrites, and they don’t scare me.

If you aren’t scared either, then I need you to help me send a message. I am looking for 402 Brave Patriots to stand with me in the next 24 hours and let the leftists know we aggressively champion freedom. Any donation from $5 to $2,900 adds your name to this list.

Together, we will send a message that the snowflakes won’t be able to hide from.

AOC is a grown woman – she needs to start acting like it! She needs to start taking the advice of an old Democrat, President Harry Truman, who once said, “ If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen!”

She can go back to her old job at the bar if she doesn’t have the guts to face me, because I love this nation, and I will never stop fighting to preserve our liberty. I don’t care if the press calls me a “meany” or I have to hurt someone’s feelings to do so, but I’m not going to let them destroy our nation or implement socialism.

Will you help me hold AOC accountable? I need to know if you are standing with me TODAY!

      God Bless America,

      Marjorie Taylor Greene

It will have one thing in common with Greene’s–it will ask you to send her money.

H9w the heck are “donations” going to actually make a difference in such matters?  Is giving Greene money supposed to make her smarter or better informed?

One person once asked me to donate to a democrats campaign so we could “hold Susan Collins accountable”.  Worth noting here that this wasn’t during an election year.

These people are completely shameless.  They are quite well compensated for their positions in congress, have better benefits than any honest worker in their states – and corporations and lobbyists kissing their asses and funding their campaigns already.

Auto-emails that end up in my spam folder are a constant.  Some times it asking for money for Pelosis campaign.  You know, the one who has hundreds of millions.

I have no intention of giving these fuckers a dime.  Even if I could afford it.

Bernie’s two campaigns were it for me.  Whatever the reason he tolerated massive fraud in the primaries and went on to support Clinton or his good friend Joe…

Not relevant.  He knew as well as anyone what they were.  He chose a side.

The side pretty much the entirety of Congress is really on.  Profit.  Greed.  Betrayal of their constituents, the trading of their souls and the mockery of any principles they may have once had.

Jonathan, today is officially Tax Day, so we want to go into a little more detail on what exactly we mean when we say “tax the rich.” Our leaders have historically taken the opposite approach: cutting taxes for the rich and expecting wealth to “trickle down” to the rest of us (spoiler alert: it doesn’t).

As we work to reshape our economy and make it work for everyone — not just the people at the top — taxing the rich is the clear and necessary solution.

So, why do we need to tax the rich?

      • The super rich pay lower taxes than the poorest Americans. The United States has a regressive tax system in which the richest people actually pay lower effective tax rates across all levels of government than the poorest people in our country. Seems hard to believe, right? But it’s true.1
      • Taxes on the rich are much lower than they used to be. Check out this graph from The New York Times comparing rates from 1950 to 2018.2
      • Two men — Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos — own more wealth than the bottom 40% of Americans combined.3
      • During the pandemic, U.S. billionaires saw their wealth go up 55% from $2.95 trillion to $4.56 trillion. Just the gains they made over the last year of this pandemic alone could pay for almost 70% of Biden’s jobs plan.4
      • U.S. income inequality has returned to Gilded Age levels from the early 1900s. Our inequality levels are the highest of all G7 countries (UK, Italy, Japan, Canada, Germany, France).5,6
      • CEOs at large companies in the U.S. now make an astonishing 264 times what the average U.S. worker makes.7 In 1989, the ratio was 58-to-1, and in 1965, it was 20-to-1.8
      • Polls show Americans don’t believe the rich pay their fair share, but Republicans keep lowering their taxes. Gallup polls as far back as 1992 have shown that the vast majority of Americans want to tax the rich more.9 Even then, Presidents Bush and Trump pushed through massive tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans.

Are you fired up and ready to tax the rich?

Good — because we can’t win this fight without grassroots activism and organizing. If you know someone who might benefit from reading the facts above, please forward them this email. If we can unite the working people of this country, we can tax the rich, close the inequality gap, and bring about a just economy for all of us.

      – Team AOC

P.S. You can also show your support with a “Tax the Rich” shirt or hoodie — 100% of proceeds help fund Team AOC’s critical grassroots organizing and campaigning. Get your “Tax the Rich” shirt or hoodie now >>

It isn’t what people expected. Why am I not surprised?

That’s OK, and probably smart of her. She still asks for money, though, doesn’t she? I bet I can get you a tax-the-rich hoodie for a lot cheaper at the sportswear/flag store down the street, though. Then again, maybe not.

I still think you’re being a sucker for sending her money, though. IMHO and all that. Your choice.

I overestimated last time when I said how much I donated to Bernie. I checked Actblue and only donated about $1,400 to his campaign. I know I donated to him because his e-mails asked me to donate to him.

Sometimes I get text messages to donate though this was the Nina Turner campaign doing this recently.

Sometimes I feel better donating instead of getting into political arguments online which is probably why I donated as much as I did to Bernie.
