Dr. Anthony Fauci angrily suggested on Tuesday that Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) was lying about the origins of COVID-19. The confrontation occurred during a Senate Health Committee after Paul said that Fauci could be punished with jail time for allegedly false testimony to Congress about the funding of a lab in Wuhan, China.

“Senator Paul, I have never lied before the Congress,” Fauci said. “And I do not retract [my previous] statement.” “You take an animal virus and you increase its transmissibility to humans,” Paul interrupted. “You’re saying that’s not gain of function?” “That is correct,” Fauci continued. “And Senator Paul, you do not know what you are talking about, quite frankly. And I want to say that officially. You do not know what you are talking about.”

“No one is saying those viruses caused the pandemic!” Paul shouted. “What we’re alleging is gain of function research was going on in that lab and NIH funded it. It meets your definition and you are obfuscating the truth.” “I’m not obfuscating the truth!” Fauci shot back. “Are you are implying that what we did was responsible for the deaths of individuals. I totally resent that and if anybody is lying here, Senator, it is you.”

I think we need to get clear on the gain of function research, the definition, who funded it, is it dangerous, did the U.S. fund Wuhan labs for this research or similar research.

It would also be nice if we can get info on the bio warfare program in Fort Detrick, partly to see if that is where the leak came from, if in fact it was a leak, as it may have been weaponized.

Lot’s of possibilities, explore them one by one.

      From https://on.rt.com/bcrp :

Paul presented a 2015 academic paper that asserts such research did take place at the Wuhan lab, and was partly funded by the NIH. One US scientist has reviewed the paper and concluded that the research within “seemed to meet the definition of gain-of-function,” — but that it did not lead to the creation of the novel coronavirus. The term ‘gain-of-function’ refers to modifying and increasing the transmissibility of animal viruses to better study their effect on humans.

“You take an animal virus and you increase its transmissibility to humans, you’re saying that’s not gain-of-function?” Paul asked.

“That is correct, and Senator Paul, you do not know what you are talking about, quite frankly, and I want to say that officially,” Fauci snapped back.

Despite the paper’s own definition of gain-of-function research seemingly being the same as Paul’s, the White House scientist still insisted that the research outlined in the 2015 paper “is not” the same thing.

Whatever you think of the discussion, Rand Paul is an MD.

The researchers at the lab were using the virus for the purpose of gaining function, but according to Fauci, this is not “gain of function”.

Fauci should explain what he meant and not just shout out “Liar!”

This country had out sourced the manufacturing of medical masks and gowns. None were made in this country, at the time. They had to be ordered and shipped from China. That took time for China to gear up their manufacturing to fill the orders.
We do not make much of anything in this country, except for guns, air planes and war toys. Even the parts have to be imported for the stuff we do make.

about anything like, say, a Covid “vaccine”?  About possible Covid treatments?  About gain of function?  About Covid case and death and hospitalization statistics?  Why would I consider anything and everything Fauci says as anything but glib flip-flopping politics or convenience-driven prevarication on behalf of his sponsors, whether those sponsors be the government or Pharma?

I always wear a mask when I go out.  Many call those who do not wear masks Trumpers who deserve to die.  But Fauci saying hey, you don’t need to wear a mask when you go out, because of shortages, that’s okay?  How many people did that sicken or kill? And did we have plenty of masks before Trump?  Was the manufacturing done here instead of China before Trump?  Why not a big effort to tell people how to improvise masks?  Or tell people that social distancing was not going to be enough?  Fauci, IMO, has no credibility at all.  Although that seems to be a plus when it comes to government, come to think of it.  I consider everything that dribbles out about covid might be political or corporate interest serving, so perhaps not the truth.  Trust but verify and there is no way to verify.  No way at all.  Finding out that hospitals got more funding for cases or deaths labeled covid was a real wake up call.

We rate the claim that hospitals get paid more if patients are listed as COVID-19 and on ventilators as TRUE.

Hospitals and doctors do get paid more for Medicare patients diagnosed with COVID-19 or if it’s considered presumed they have COVID-19 absent a laboratory-confirmed test, and three times more if the patients are placed on a ventilator to cover the cost of care and loss of business resulting from a shift in focus to treat COVID-19 cases.

This higher allocation of funds has been made possible under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act through a Medicare 20% add-on to its regular payment for COVID-19 patients, as verified by USA TODAY through the American Hospital Association Special Bulletin on the topic.

Thinking that profit-driven  hospitals who regularly charge  many many times what a procedure costs, and regularly over bill people with “mistakes” in the billing, and do not even have a code for medical mistakes-caused deaths (according to Johns Hopkins) – are not going to take advantage of this is stupid.  For me, there is a huge  gap – chasm, really – in believe-ability that cannot be bridged.  No matter how many childish names I am called.  It seems that being on a ventilator can be harmful – but how many people were put on ventilators because that paid three times more?   No one is keeping statistics on that, methinks.  And as long as public opinion and information is politically driven, I doubt anyone is ever going to know what has actually happened or is actually happening.  To accept that our government is built on disinformation, and then say oh, but statistics about Covid are true – um, nope.  I will just take supplements, stay home, and wear a mask if I venture out.  Just think – the first fucking thing about anyone’s death these days is – how are they registered to vote.  What have they said on social media.  And then the grave-dancing begins.   What a mess this all is.

This is Fauci discussing that very topic.  He is, or at least was, a strong advocate for gain of function research.

Did the virus result from actions taken at the lab in Wuhan?  Maybe.  Could it have?  Yes.  When you are deliberately transmitting diseases from animals to humans, you are treading on dangerous ground.  Yes, they absolutely did do that at the Wuhan lab.  Yes, Fauci did support such experiments.

As for whether the NIH deliberately funded gain of function research at the Wuhan lab, I don’t know.  It is, however, certainly a possibility that a lab leak caused the pandemic – I think it is a likely possibility.

While I don’t think it was any kind of deliberate biological warfare, I do believe that Countries like the U.S. and China are tinkering with such potential weapons – and likely have a stockpile of them.

I don’t see that segment up yet on his Youtube page, but they typically carve up their live feed shows and then put different topics in smaller videos there. If they do post it, I will circle back.

But yeah, actually watch the whole exchange between Fauci and Paul. Paul’s interrogation is really damning, and Fauci’s pushback lacked the power it would have had had it come from someone who hadn’t lied to the public before.

supposedly telling Sen. Paul, he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. It’s pretty clear from JD’s clips of this interchange, that Paul was using authoritative medical sources and Fauci’s prior statement on the subject before the Senate to prove his point, and Fauci’s responses were illogical, non-responsive and false, or purely ad hominem attacks.

But everyone gets that, I was just surprised somewhat to see that Google on behalf of the PTB, push this msnbc notice to me complete with an indignant Fauci GIF, to advertise its heavily edited one minute clip of Fauci. I’ve haven’t looked at an msnbc channel video or broadcast for years. I have never gotten an msnbc clip on my youtube feed. This suggests that Fauci’s spectacular fail needs massive spin and push to protect the established interests, which i see as big pharma, and the pentagon who likewise are in a widely recognized fail mode.

Good point about weeding out what the propaganda media is trying to push on any given day.

If they are trying to push that Fauci was caught lying about being of course the sole force behind Gain of Function research then:  Quite possibly he had not much to do with it, and the usual *actual* suspects like Mossad and our spooks had more to do with the oopsy!-error that is Covid 19.

Watch, and make up your own mind:

Yeah, and if you go to the Youtube comments for this video, someone brought up a familiar and apt analogy: “That depends on what the definition of ‘is’ is.”

Oh, and also, the old Socratic fallacy, appeal to authority: “… when you consult with QUALIFIED. VIROLOGISTS. …”

Arguments from authority that are based on the idea that a person should conform to the opinion of a perceived authority or authoritative group are rooted in psychological cognitive biases such as the Asch effect. In repeated and modified instances of the Asch conformity experiments, it was found that high-status individuals create a stronger likelihood of a subject agreeing with an obviously false conclusion, despite the subject normally being able to clearly see that the answer was incorrect.

Further, humans have been shown to feel strong emotional pressure to conform to authorities and majority positions. A repeat of the experiments by another group of researchers found that “Participants reported considerable distress under the group pressure”, with 59% conforming at least once and agreeing with the clearly incorrect answer, whereas the incorrect answer was much more rarely given when no such pressures were present.

Another study shining light on the psychological basis of the fallacy as it relates to perceived authorities are the Milgram experiments, which demonstrated that people are more likely to go along with something when it is presented by an authority. In a variation of a study where the researchers did not wear lab coats, thus reducing the perceived authority of the tasker, the obedience level dropped to 20% from the original rate, which had been higher than 50%. Obedience is encouraged by reminding the individual of what a perceived authority states and by showing them that their opinion goes against this authority.

Yeah, thanks, but no thanks. I have always been taught to “always question authority.”

Even here, there are some who seem to believe that invoking Bernie’s name will, or should, or must! result in compliance.  Like. say, voting for the blue, etc.

Even the “vaccine” – one of the list of proposed ways to convince people to get the shot (and how weird is it that it was already assumed that people would not want the shot?) is to get “influencers” to convince people.   IMO Fauci is completely ruined and discredited as an authority on anything.  Also think that the current mongering about the “vaccine” will keep ramping up until Biden’s target has been met.  I get the feeling that when he is lucid, Biden is pretty peevish about that.

After he admitted to lying about the need for masks back in February or March of last year, he should have lost all credibility on the subject. Seems to me the Democrats did their best to politicize the issue, coming down firmly on Fauci’s side regardless of his record, which is really kind of typical of them, come to think of it.

As for Paul, the only thing he’s good on is anti-imperialist foreign policy. I give him credit for that, and that alone.
