This is from France24. Personally, I rather like Melenchon, and I think he makes a cogent observation:

France’s hard-left leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon was accused of reckless speech and fuelling conspiracy theories on Monday after he predicted there would be a “serious incident or murder” designed to manipulate voters ahead of next year’s presidential election.

“You’ll see, in the last weeks of the presidential campaign, we’ll have a serious incident or a murder,” the fiery head of the France Unbowed party warned, citing earlier examples.

Mélenchon, who took 19% of the ballot in the 2017 presidential race, also drew criticism for pushing the theory that President Emmanuel Macron was an invention of shadowy and powerful interests who control the country and that next year’s election had been “written in advance”.

Referring to Macron’s surprise victory four years ago, he said: “In every country of the world, they’ve invented someone like him, who comes from nowhere and who’s pushed by the oligarchy.”

And of course a favorite of Third Way types here in the states.

Hardly shadowy, but right out in the open if you want to see.

Which is why the oligarchs in France, who aren’t in nearly as secure a position as their American counterparts, have their panties in a twist over the socialist’s remarks. He’s too accurate for them.

At least Macron wasn’t totally boring. Marrying his former high school teacher and not having a mistress was something of a scandal in France. A politician without a mistress! What’s the world coming to?

Young people these days, I swear.

Macron was an investment banker with Rothschild & Co before he entered politics.  Low visibility position in the Hollande Admin in 2012, cabinet minister in 2014, ran for president 2017.

Socialist party member 2006-2009, I wonder if that was before or after the Rothschild gig.

Yeah, he looks like an obama type.

in contrast, melenchon’s been in the national senate since 1986.  whoever he is, he has a record.

i’d be more inclined to buy his take than the creepy people inhabiting the ‘leadership’ of global politics today.
