Fox News Has Been Lying Its Aging Viewers Into Early Graves

<snip>“A review of hundreds of hours of programming and social media traffic from Jan. 1 through mid-March, when the White House started urging people to stay home and limit their exposure to others — shows that doubt, cynicism and misinformation about the virus took root among many of Mr. Trump’s boosters in the right-wing media as the number of confirmed cases in the United States grew,” reports The New York Times.
<snip>Fox News and the Republican Party exist today because of older white people who live in rural and suburban places. If you had sat down last December and hatched a plan specifically calculated to damage that sector of the populace, you could not have done better than Fox and the GOP have through their defense of Trump and their simple greedy negligence. COVID-19 is almost perfectly designed to attack older Americans, and still the Republican governor of Florida balks at protecting his aged population, because doing so might make Trump look bad.
I am terrified for Florida, for the millions of people who are going to suffer and die because they trusted this president. William Rivers Pitt

But I got hammered by his followers for defending Tulsi Gabbard the week after Clinton called her a Russian asset and I’m not even a big fan of Tulsi Gabbard anymore. As far as online attacks those were the worst I received I ended up deleting my account. Still like Will Pitt’s writing though.

cruise ships one of the industries this admin wants to bail out. they’re a scourge for environmental, health, and labor reasons. they don’t pay US taxes. and i’ve lost count of the disease outbreaks on their ships (particularly carnival), going back long before C-19.
and now this admin can’t (or won’t) even deal with the people harmed.

I corrected his grammar once at SV. He’s a hell of a writer and I love his work, but he happened to hit one of my pet peeves. He wasn’t very nice to me after that. And, I don’t do Facebook.

Trump’s followers are in for a surprise by the time he’s finished saving us from a “hoax”.

It’s bad enough that chronic Fox
victimsviewers have all been totally brainwashed into a life based in silly RW delusions concocted by Murdoch’s propagandists, but brainwashing them into what is essentially suicide should be a totally prosecutable crime against humanity.
I’ve only seen Fox News once, many years ago, at a friend’s house, for about 10 minutes. Bill O’Reilly was spewing some silly fascist bullshit. It about made me puke, and I left, feeling pity for my former friend.
Teach your children well, so that they will have the cognitive skills to easily and quickly distinguish RW lies from fact.

Those who believe Faux News and MSDNC are either stupid or ignorant. Take your pick. We can’t help them because they don’t want to question their perverse world view. Fear of cognitive dissonance, I suppose.
