“If he has a defense, we on House Judiciary—along with the American people—are eager to hear it,” said. Rep. Pramila Jayapal.

White House counsel Pat Cipollone informed the House Judiciary Committee late Sunday that President Donald Trump and his lawyers will not participate in the panel’s first impeachment hearing this week, a move Democratic lawmakers highlighted as further evidence that the president’s repeated complaints about lack of due process have been completely empty.

“Not one process complaint made by the president and his Republican allies in Congress so far has turned out to be genuine,” tweeted Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.).

Trump and his GOP allies in Congress have repeatedly decried the House impeachment proceedings as a “sham,” even as Republicans have been allowed to participate in hearings and question witnesses both behind closed doors and in public.

“We’re bending over backward to be fair,” Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), a member of the House Judiciary Committee, tweeted Sunday. “The onus is on President Trump to, for once, behave and engage with Congress. If he has a defense, we on House Judiciary—along with the American people—are eager to hear it.”

There is no “due process” in impeachment hearings.  It is not a criminal trial.  It is simply an investigation.  This RW talking point is a fabrication designed to deceive poorly informed individuals, and has no legal significance.

The House is being way more than fair to Trump.  They knew Trump wouldn’t show up, because they know, as always, he depends on lies, hiding the truth, and total lack of transparency in order to prevent his dirty deeds from being exposed to everyone in the light of day.

Acts of a big mouth coward. It’s difficult to watch Trump and his GOP cult anymore. Such crying and complaining after caught in their schemes. Reality TV at its worse.

I know, right?  The blatant corruption, dishonesty, and duplicity are like something out of a nightmare Fascist Dystopian Idiocracy, a sarcastic, ridiculous Monte Python parody-comedy skit, except that this lunacy is actually occurring IRL in the US.

What is frightening is that there are so many people in this country who either cannot see and perceive the blatant complete corruption, or, worse, they see it and think it is justified.

Below is a video analogy of how blatantly the RW lies to our faces, when all evidence, fact, common sense, and reality proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are deliberately lying.  Unfortunately, RWers among the US population believe the lies are *gospel truth* as preached by the Grifter Evangelist of the Plutarchs, Donald Trump, and are sure that the parrot is not actually dead, just stunned, resting, or pining for the fjords.

Is this guy the same one that promised “transparency in government” as a candidate?

      Tracking Trump’s record on transparency

We’ve been tracking the Trump administration’s record on open government since Election Day 2016… In March 2017, Sunlight joined C-SPAN to make sense of the Trump administration’s record on open government for Sunshine Week, pulling together a list of examples for the producers that had established one of the worst records on open government in the first 100 days of an administration in American history, below, which we kept adding to in the weeks and months since…

-How candidates conduct campaigns and transitions carries into office. After making himself available to the press through July, Trump set a bar as the least transparent modern presidential candidate in modern history. He held no press conference until from July 2016 until January 11, 2017,  released no tax returns, and made no proactive disclosures around transition or inauguration. He held his first and only solo presidential press conference on February 16, 2017.

Ethics: Lack of disclosure of tax returns and divestment in accordance with decades of tradition set up the Trump presidency for the ongoing appearance of corruption, with an unknown number of conflicts of interest around the world.

Secret waivers for administration officials, followed by the Office of Management and Budgets seeking to block the Office of Government Ethics from making a data call to obtain them.

No affirmative vision for open government. No public statements on the Freedom of Information Act, open government, open data, transparency, nor this year’s Sunshine Week….

Trump would have stood better to promise OBSTRUCTION in government. He killed it!
