GOP uses debunked theory to downplay COVID-19 death toll

Top Republicans are seeking to downplay the heavy toll of the coronavirus, in part by pointing to a conspiracy theory that the number of deaths is much lower.
President Trump, along with Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) and Rep. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.), who are both in competitive Senate races, have all pointed in recent days to the widely debunked theory that COVID-19 deaths in the United States total just 10,000 instead of the more than 180,000 recorded by health officials.
The speculative remarks come at a time when about 1,000 people a day are dying from the virus, providing a grim backdrop to the final sprint to Election Day. Trump, meanwhile, has been trying to project an optimistic message, frequently pointing to rapid progress toward a vaccine and saying he thinks the virus is “going away.”
The 6 percent figure has been seized on, however, to minimize the death toll. Last weekend, Trump retweeted a post from the user Mel Q, who is also a believer in the QAnon conspiracy theory, saying only about 9,000 people had “actually” died from coronavirus. Twitter later removed the tweet for violating its rules.

Even before Trump tookover counting deaths and faking numbers on 16 July, a comparison of total deaths was conduct. Excess deaths are as much as 6 times higher than reported in COVID death counts this last few months as compared to years past.
In fact, in every country that was looked at, excess deaths were hugely higher then reported in COVID death counts. Every country underestimated the number of deaths. What politician would over count deaths?
Here in rural TN, we have the lowest death rate in the US, and the lowest death rate as compared to worldwide numbers. If you have COVID and are afraid of dying from it, come here you have less than a .001% chance of dying from it. But you may die from an inexplicable increase in pneumonia, heart problems, diabetic complication, kidney failure, blood clots and obesity problems. For some reason, TN citizens have been dying from all sorts of varied illness all of a sudden. Illnesses we have always had in our population have suddenly turned very deadly. Weird.
You can bet on the fact that there a lot more deaths then they are telling you about.

Have to make this deadly pandemic look better so they can open the economy to make money. Never mind how many customers die, as long as businesses are allowed to operate normally. Forget the unemployed, whose jobs are gone forever. Forget school sports, where one person can infect the whole team… And the other team also.
Forget about the refrigerator trailers parked outside hospitals, full of dead bodies. The masses are being sacrificed, so our owners can make money as before. Those yacht and private jet payments don’t come cheap, ya know?
Instead of doing the correct thing, the government paying workers enough to stay home, providing universal health care, providing PPE for public hospitals, mandating masks when around other people, regardless … cancelling group activities, i.e., concerts, sports, in room classes in schools, anything where large groups of people congregate …
We are, in most cases doing the excite opposite of what needs to be done to get ahead of this virus. Because the millionaires and billionaires running this country, want their money, regardless of the true cost to everyone else.
We are an arrogant species, believing our fantasy based "facts" are better than the other person's fake facts.
If you are wrong, it will be because you are not cynical enough.
Both major political parties are special interest groups enabling each other for power and money, at the expense of the people they no longer properly serve…
Always wear a proper mask when out and about. The life you save could be both yours and mine.

The government’s abject failure to protect its own citizens from a relatively mild pandemic is proof positive that we live in a failed state.
When I say “mild,” I’m comparing it to things like smallpox and the bubonic plague. We should ask ourselves what will happen if something like them comes along.

I have been suspicious of this for some time now.
I would like to remind you that U.S. health insurance companies do not contribute anything to health care. They are only a PARASITIC middle man receiving an undeserved cut of "FREE MONEY".

They are banking on a lie to win and keep trying to convince us that coronavirus is going away. And they are guaranteeing that it will look like it by limiting the testing.
Half-time: the score is tied and the scoreboard is broken so we are no longer going to count the scores. Who wins? It is anyone’s guess.
