Advisers to Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., believe that her plunge in the polls over the summer was accelerated by a withering attack in a primary debate in July by Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, that left the then-front-runner reeling and donors “alarmed,” according to a new report about her struggling presidential bid.

In a lengthy deep-dive into the California senator’s struggles on the campaign trail, The New York Times on Friday reported that many Harris advisers point to a July debate moment between Gabbard and the senator as “accelerating” her decline in the polls.

    (snip)

It was the latest in a series of attacks from Gabbard — and Harris’ advisers were reportedly unimpressed, especially as she had been prepped on potential attacks on her record. Harris responded then claiming that she had consistently fought against the death penalty and reformed the criminal justice system.

According to the Times, several of Harris’ donors were “alarmed” and urged the campaign to fire back at Gabbard. Harris was also aware that her response was “insufficient,” a view “reinforced by her advisers” according to the Times.

Harris’ advisers were also frustrated at the senator’s alleged inability to “carry a message beyond the initial script.”

inability to “carry a message beyond the initial script.”

And that’s why we are winning. None of these puppets can go beyond their script. Oh, except Biden, who can fall of the script in his special way…

Yep, except for Bernie and Tulsi, they all need scripts.  Whatever one thinks of them, they are consistent because they aren’t trying to bullshit people or relying on their campaign strategists.

“Attack”  = factual statments about Harris’ record and behavior.

harris is the one at the wheel when her campaign crashed into a wall, not Gabbard. Gabbard was the wall.

I was interested in the quotation about the guillotine.  It led me to a few videos by The Coup (Fat Cats and Bigga Fish).  I had never heard of these guys, but their stuff is fantastic!  And later, I’ll be watching “Sorry to Bother You.”

      Thanks!

Not particularly about the scripts: these candidates are compromised, that’s why they need a script in the first place.  They can’t speak from their records, they can’t speak from their histories, they can’t speak from their actions, they can’t speak from their hearts.

and people who pay attention know that, and worse, enough are engaged enough to get that message out.

not too difficult a point.  they don’t walk their talk; they have no integrity; they’re liars.  we can’t trust them.

When was Harris ever the “front runner”?

The same way Biden is a front runner. Never mind few showing up at their campaign rallies, we are being told they are front runners by those with a vested interest in them being so, so they therefore are front runners.
Never mind Bernie can consistently fill football stadiums, he can’t be a front runner, because he is a far left-wing, commie, pinko, socialist and we’re being told, nobody wants that.

We are an arrogant species, believing our fantasy based "facts" are better than the other person's fake facts.

If you are wrong, it will be because you are not cynical enough.

But it was okay for Hillary to call Gabbard a Russian puppet.  Do these Vichy Dems have ANY FUCKING SELF-AWARENESS OR EVEN BRAINS AT ALL???????

The Vichy Dems need scripts so they don’t accidentally let slip what they really plan to do, or lie and pander about things they have no intention of doing.  Obama lesson there.

I will not vote for a Vichy Dem. Period. As always, I decide who is a Vichy Dem.

Harris is a terrible debater. She totally derailed as soon as it went off script and was forced to actually back up her rehearsed talking points.

But she’s also a flawed candidate on the issues. Her proposals on criminal justice reform (supposed to be her strength) are a total joke and wouldnt reform anything.

Harris would be an even worse candidate than Hillary.

Tulsi’s So-called attacks DID hurt Harris..because Tulsi told the truth about her.

Oh, Jeebus H. Ka Riced! I guess we all see the obvious similarity to the Hillary Clinton campaign when it comes to making excuses and blaming others. The behavior of Harris and her campaign staff in the final days make me pretty happy she doesn’t stand a chance.

These Democrats are idiots. Sitting around whining about Tulsi? Tulsi is a walk in the park compared to Trump. Trump has no filter what so ever. He called out Bush for 9/11. He called out Clinton for rape. What ever the Achilles heel the Democrat has he’s going to beat it like a drum. He will yell Indian war whoops at Warren. He’ll bring innocent death row inmates to debates to stare daggers at Harris. He’ll bring the fired Police chief and ex-boyfriends for Buttigeig. He’ll call out Biden’s family corruption and hair sniffing antics in the most hyperbolic and slanderous terms imaginable. Any flawed candidate they put against him is going to get hammered hard. If they think some dottering old fool or some quivering voiced wonky technocrat is going survive a Trump unhinged beat down they are out of their minds. Jeb, Hillary, and the rest of the 2016 Republican clown car thought they could finger wag themselves to victory over Trump and they got their asses handed to them. 2020 will be no different.

    This is shocking!

A rival for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination attacked the record, in some areas, of a second candidate—and that second candidate’s poll numbers deteriorated.

    What could possibly explain this?

The first candidate attacking the second candidate’s record may be what “accelerated” the decline of that second candidate’s standing.

    Wow!

    This is all so shocking.

    How is this possible?

If only Leonard Nimoy were still alive so he could narrate this mystery on another segment on In Search Of….
