    Honduras suspends curfew in eight departments after vote dispute

    TEGUCIGALPA (Reuters) – Honduras suspended its nighttime curfew in eight regions, or departments, on Wednesday after the areas were not deemed to pose a risk to public order following a disputed Nov. 26 presidential vote, a government security spokesman said.

    my guess is the military’s brokering something, like it did 1972 and 1985–that way it can keep its powers (and cash and investments, and control over promotions), keep its image as the people’s defender against reelection-ism, make up for 2009 with the civil society and peasants (they were the ones who enacted Latin America’s third or second-biggest land reform, after all), and have a President and Congress who owes them bigtime (so they won’t try anything like dissolving the Army as they tried 1963)
