I pulled the screen protector and pulley from the clutch and sprayed the shit out of it with WD40. I guess I freed up those ball bearings that engage the shaft from the engine. Im back in garden business!

I have a few flower beds that are no-till because I’ve been able to supplement the soil. But my big plot would take tons of compost.
I Do grow buckwheat as an excellent cover crop in the big garden. It’s broad leaves choke out weeds nicely, and when the buckwheat is about a foot tall, I scythe it down and let it decay into the soil. It has the effect of ‘sweetening’ the soil too. Nice stuff.
My soil is a sandy loam. Drains nicely, but that draining leaches out good stuff and makes the soil a little acidic, hence the buckwheat. It raises the PH as it gets incorporated into the soil.
